[183]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST DESCRIBED - ISAIAH 11
I know there are some who don’t believe in the literalness of scripture and therefore reject the biblical concept of a Millennium. This poem is not an exegesis on any of that, but the content of a biblical passage I have selected and retold in poetic form.
There are hundreds of references with what happens when Christ returns at the Second Coming; when Israel is restored and His earthly Kingdom is set up. Isaiah 11 is probably the best known passage for that time. Already in expansive posts I have covered the Restoration of Israel in Isaiah and Jeremiah. They are found in the Eschatology Series here in my sermons on Sermon Central.
This poem has put to verse the contents of Isaiah 11 and the whole chapter is covered. Isaiah 11 is a beautiful chapter and probably the best known section is this – {{Isaiah 11:6-7 “THE WOLF WILL DWELL WITH THE LAMB and the leopard will lie down with the kid and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little boy will lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze. Their young will lie down together and THE LION WILL EAT STRAW LIKE THE OX.”}}
There is not much more I will say about this. There are 16 verses in Chapter 11 and you can follow those if you like. I suggest you read the chapter before reading the poem.
Yes, there is one thing. Here is a verse – {{Isaiah 11:14 “THEY WILL SWOOP DOWN ON THE SLOPES OF THE PHILISTINES ON THE WEST and together they will plunder the sons of the east. They will possess Edom and Moab and the sons of Ammon will be subject to them.”}}. God promised all the land from the river Nile to the river Euphrates to Abraham and his descendants - (Genesis 15:18). It is interesting that “the slopes of the Philistines on the west” is the exact location of the Gaza strip today.
{{Revelation 20:4 “I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them, and I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand, and they came to life AND REIGNED WITH CHRIST FOR A THOUSAND YEARS. This is the first resurrection.”}}
Isaiah 11:4 is the Second Coming with Armageddon and from verse 5 is the Millennium. It will be glorious – {{Isaiah 11:9 “They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain for THE EARTH WILL BE FULL OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD as the waters cover the sea.”}}

MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST DESCRIBED - ISAIAH 11
One day the knowledge of the LORD will fill the earth
As waters flow, and cover all the sea.
Through David’s Son, a shoot will spring from Jesse’s stem,
And as the Branch, will fruit abundantly.
===============================
All wisdom, strength, and understanding counsel’s His;
The Spirit of the LORD on Him will rest.
And in Jehovah’s fear, His real delight will be.
True judgment’s His; a heart that wins each test.
===============================
With righteousness He’ll judge the poor, and fairness show.
Afflicted ones upon the earth receive.
His spoken rod will strike the wicked in this world;
His words will slay the ones who don’t believe.
===============================
The fear of God will rest on Him, and knowledge too;
And He will surely wear a twofold belt:-
The belt of righteousness will be about His loins;
And faithfulness about His waist, its belt.
===============================
He will set up the holy mountain of the LORD:-
That is, His Kingdom He will institute.
And when the knowledge of the LORD will fill the earth
Destruction then, and hurt, will not find root.
===============================
The leopard happily, will lie down with the kid.
The lamb and wolf will dwell there peacefully.
A little boy will lead the fatling and the calf,
Who with the lion, travel merrily.
===============================
The cow and bear will graze together with their young.
The lion, like the ox, will eat the straw.
A nursing child will play right near a cobra’s hole;
Across a viper’s den, young hands will draw.
===============================
Then, in that coming, future day will this occur:-
A gathering of nations to the LORD.
As signal to the peoples, it is Christ who stands,
Whose resting place His glory has adorned.
===============================
His hand recovers Israel for the second time,
And on that day, His people will be blessed.
From nations ‘round, and from the islands of the sea,
He gathers them to live in perfect rest.
===============================
The banished ones of Israel He will gather then -
Dispersed to all four corners of the earth.
A standard for the nations will be lifted up.
Israel will know the dawning of new birth.
===============================
Cut off will be the ones who have harassed Judah,
And down the slopes the Jews swoop in the west.
Together they will plunder nations of the east;
Take Moab too, and Edom in conquest.
===============================
He’ll utterly destroy the tongue of Egypt’s Sea;
He’ll wave His hand across the River Nile.
By scorching wind, it will become there, seven streams.
Jehovah, on His people, sets His smile.
===============================
When Israel came from Egypt, under Moses’ hand,
A highway from the LORD was opened out.
So shall a highway from Assyria be made
For those who’ll be the remnant ‘round about.
