[105]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN

This is a one off for me in this particular style. I had in mind to write a song and got this far. The lyrics are not a problem, just the tunes. This poem would be a song for more than one singer as I see the parts in the song.

Nevertheless the message is there. Nothing is too hard for God. It never is even though it is insurmountable for us at times.

The title has godliness and contentment as the theme and comes from this passage – {{1 Timothy 6:5-7 “and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. BUT GODLINESS ACTUALLY IS A MEANS OF GREAT GAIN, WHEN ACCOMPANIED BY CONTENTMENT, for we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.”}}

Paul advises us to seek godliness – {{1 Timothy 6:11 “but flee from these things, you man of God and PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS, GODLINESS, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.”}}

Contentment is a state that we often don’t reach because we don’t seem satisfied with what we have, and keep seeking more which is aligned to this materialistic world. I have found the happiest Christians are those who have very little and are fully satisfied. Their focus is on the Lord not on materialism that never satisfies.

{{Hebrews 13:5 Let your character be free from the love of money, BEING CONTENT WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”}}

Paul had a wonderful testimony here about contentment – {{2 Corinthians 12:10 “Therefore, for Christ’s sake, I AM WELL CONTENT with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for when I am weak, then I am strong.”}}. May we all learn this lesson because it is a difficult one.

GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN

Godliness with contentment is great gain -

Remember that, my brother, in your pain.

Precious to God are you, when so needy.

He’ll oppose those who lust to be greedy.

============================

Life is so tough!

It is so rough!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

============================

Jesus saw one widow, with just two mites,

Her eyes upon her God, not on her plight.

Gave all she had and gained contented rest.

Commended by God, she went away blessed.

============================

Lacking riches in this life may hurt you,

And living hand to mouth is tough, it’s true -

Having nought to pay the bills, day to day,

Subsisting with your family on low pay.

============================

Godliness with contentment is great gain -

Remember that, my brother, in your pain.

Precious to God are you, when so needy.

He’ll oppose those who lust to be greedy.

============================

Life is so tough!

It is so rough!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

============================

Needing help can be itself a blessing

God’s grace to you when all is distressing.

God is rich in mercy, and your reward.

Be still and know that I am God, your Lord.

============================

Look to Jesus - tell me what He possessed?

No place to lay His head, the Lord confessed.

Sparrows know the fact of God’s provision,

And lilies receive His supervision.

============================

Godliness with contentment is great gain -

Remember that, my brother, in your pain.

Precious to God are you, when so needy.

He’ll oppose those who lust to be greedy.

============================

Life is so tough!

It is so rough!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

============================

None of earth’s vain riches, repute or fame,

But rich in God’s treasures, owing His Name.

What an inheritance we all possess!

My mansion above displays my address.

============================

Treasures in heaven, laid up for us there;

No moth-eaten gold of earth can compare.

Blessings from Jesus, eternally made -

God’s glorious gifts which will never fade.

============================

Godliness with contentment is great gain -

Remember that, my brother, in your pain.

Precious to God are you, when so needy.

He’ll oppose those who lust to be greedy.

============================

Life is so tough!

It is so rough!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

So tough

So rough

But nothing’s too hard for God!

NOTHING - NOTHING - NOTHING - NOTHING’s too hard for God!
