[104]. A Message From A Poem – God’s Attributes

[104]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – GOD’S ATTRIBUTES
Some people dispute the term Attributes of God. They say it can only be applied to statements such as God IS love. Others look at it in a wider sense taking in the qualities of the Godhead.
In this poem, I took 4 words to make 4 stanzas originally. These words are love, grace, mercy and peace. In May 2025 I added holiness and compassion. I suppose these are the most used words when it comes to the character of God.
In dealing with human beings God must use all 6 of these words. If one was missing salvation and relationship would be incomplete. It is hard to categorise these words – e.g. Did love promote grace, OR was it that grace motivated love. I am not interested in these discussions. I just wanted to dedicate one stanza for each word.
{{Ephesians 1:4-5 “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be HOLY AND BLAMELESS before Him. IN LOVE He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,”}}
{{Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the RICHES OF HIS GRACE.”}}
{{Ephesians 2:4-5 “but God, being RICH IN MERCY, because of HIS GREAT LOVE with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED)}}
{{Ephesians 2:14 “for HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE, who made both groups into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall.”}}
{{Colossians 3:12 “As those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of COMPASSION, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;”}}
{{1 Thessalonians 3:13 “so that He may establish your hearts UNBLAMABLE IN HOLINESS before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.”}}

GOD’S ATTRIBUTES
God’s love is filled right to the brim,
And beyond the rim, overflows.
Appreciation of this love,
Will know from the Lord, that it flows.
==========================
God’s grace is extensive and free,
And reached out to me in my need.
The working of this treasured grace,
Each day, one can trace in each deed.
==========================
God’s mercy reached the guilty soul,
Creating it whole in God’s sight.
Such patient mercy draws us in,
Addressing our sin and sad plight.
==========================
God’s peace is the calm in the storm,
Where earth has no form of sweet rest.
Eternity will know God’s peace -
In glory, not cease as His best.
==========================
God’s holiness divides this world,
Between the righteous and unsaved;
Accepts through faith to holiness,
But condemns those who mercy waived.
==========================
God of compassion, so wondrous -
In sympathy He reaches out.
Not willing that any suffer
He gently surrounds them about.
