[075]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – EXCERPTS FROM CERTAIN PSALMS PART 6 – PSALMS 141, 147, 140, 68
{{{Psalm 108:1-3 “My heart is steadfast, O God. I WILL SING, I WILL SING PRAISES, EVEN WITH MY SOUL. Awake, harp and lyre. I will awaken the dawn! I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the peoples and I WILL SING PRAISES TO YOU among the nations”}}
We are currently posting in illustrations, certain Psalms in poem form. They all have special meaning for me especially concerning God’s care and His protection and deliverance. There are four Psalms in this posting, and it is the last one. I have taken the thoughts, and often the wording in each Psalm, to compose those in poem form with proper metre and rhyme.
Every Psalm in the series has metre of 8-6-8-6 and can be sung if you like. There are many well-known tunes that fit that metre and here are some here - https://hymnary.org/search?qu=meter%3A8.6.8.6%20in%3Atunes&sort=totalInstances
** Psalm 141. This Psalm is a psalm of prayer for God’s help.
** Psalm 147 is one of great confidence in God who blesses those who trust Him. He is the great God of deliverance.
** Psalm 140 looks at the devices of the wicked to trap God’s people. As usual David looks to the deliverance of God and judgement on enemies.
** Psalm 68 has 35 verses. Many topics are covered in this Psalm.
==============================================================
*** {{Psalm 141:8-9 “My eyes are toward You, O GOD, the Lord. In You I take refuge. Do not leave me defenceless. Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me and from the snares of those who do iniquity.”}}
*** {{Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord and abundant in strength. His understanding is infinite.”}}
*** {{Psalm 140:12-13 “I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted and justice for the poor. Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name. The upright will dwell in Your presence.”}}
*** {{Psalm 68:35 “O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!”}}
{{Psalm 141:3 “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips.”}}
Please regard these poems as a meditation on the word of God containing all the richness of this beautiful section of the bible.
I hope you enjoy them.
=============================================================
OOOOO - PSALM 141 - OOOOO
I call on you to hasten, Lord;
Give ear, Lord, when I call.
My prayer, as incense unto You,
From evening hands will fall.
=========================
Do set a guard upon my mouth;
Watch over my lips’ door.
Do not incline my heart to sin,
Or evil to adore.
=========================
To practice deeds of wickedness
With men who wicked are -
Don’t let me eat of their choice food,
But keep me distant, far.
=========================
In kindness let the righteous smite -
Reprove me when there’s need.
For it’s like oil upon my head.
Oppose the wicked’s deed.
=========================
My God, my eyes towards You are;
In You, my refuge take.
Keep me from traps that they have set.
Do not, my Lord, forsake.
=========================
Keep me from snares the wicked made,
From traps set on the sly.
Into their own nets let them fall,
While I pass safely by.
=========================
O O O O O O O -- O O O O O O O
OOOOO - PSALM 147 - OOOOO
For it is good to sing God’s praise.
Sing praises to the Lord!
For it is pleasant to do that -
Becoming. He’s adored.
=========================
He heals the broken hearted ones;
Their wounds He binds up well
He counts the number of the stars;
Their names the Lord can tell.
=========================
In strength, abundant is the Lord,
And also very great.
His understanding, infinite;
Support will not abate.
=========================
For He supports the hurting ones
Afflicted by the wrong.
But wicked men will He bring down
And ground the evil-strong.
=========================
With thanksgiving, sing to the Lord;
The lyre sing His praise.
He covers heaven with the clouds,
Provides earth’s rainy days.
=========================
The grass will grow on mountain range;
The beasts will have their food.
Young ravens cry to God in need,
Then God will feed that brood.
=========================
Not in the strength of horse or man
Does God’s delight then show.
On those who fear the Lord, will rest
The favours He’ll bestow.
=========================
O O O O O O O -- O O O O O O O
OOOOO - PSALM 140 - OOOOO
Preserve from violent men, O Lord.
Keep me from wicked hands
Who’ve purposed to trip up my feet,
In hidden traps and bands.
=========================
By wayside track they’ve spread a net;
For me they have set snares.
Don’t grant them, Lord, their evil wish
Lest their self glory flares.
=========================
I know the Lord maintains the cause
Of the afflicted ones.
The upright will dwell in Your sight,
The thankful, righteous sons.
=========================
O O O O O O O -- O O O O O O O
OOOOO - PSALM 68 - OOOOO
Then may our blessings all abound
To our Almighty Lord
Who daily bears our burden here;
Salvation we applaud.
=========================
To God belong escapes from death -
Our enemies defeat!
Deliverance from God does come;
Our Victor we will greet.

Doors: Open Or Closed

The majority of the body of Christ believes that God opens doors (a "yes" answer to prayer) and closes doors (a "no" answer to prayer) in their lives. Does scripture support such a belief?
