[074]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – EXCERPTS FROM CERTAIN PSALMS PART 5 – PSALMS 9, 27, 100
{{Psalm 59:16-17 “As for me, I SHALL SING OF YOUR STRENGTH. Yes, I SHALL JOYFULLY SING OF YOUR LOVING-KINDNESS in the morning, for You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my strength, I WILL SING PRAISES TO YOU FOR GOD IS MY STRONGHOLD, the God who shows me loving-kindness.”}}
We are currently posting in illustrations, certain Psalms in poem form. They all have special meaning for me especially concerning God’s care and His protection and deliverance. There are three Psalms in this posting. I have taken the thoughts, and often the wording in each Psalm, to compose those in poem form with proper metre and rhyme.
Every Psalm in the series has metre of 8-6-8-6 and can be sung if you like. There are many well-known tunes that fit that metre and here are some here - https://hymnary.org/search?qu=meter%3A8.6.8.6%20in%3Atunes&sort=totalInstances
** Psalm 9. This Psalm is a pro-active one where God has done so much. There is also the contrast of the righteous and the wicked. The wicked will fail.
** Psalm 27 is one of great confidence in God who rescues and keeps His own children. There is prayer that the Lord will not let the enemy defeat him. David also asks for the Lord’s presence, and that he may be taught.
** Psalm 100 has only 5 verses and all those are positive. It really is a great Psalm of praise and worthy to be sung. I think no poem can capture the beauty of this Psalm.
==============================================================
*** {{Psalm 9:9 “The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”}}
*** {{Psalm 27:1 “The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defence of my life. Whom shall I dread?”}}
*** {{Psalm 27:4 “One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to meditate in His temple.”}}
*** {{Psalm 100:3 “Know that the LORD Himself is God. It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”}}
*** {{Psalm 100:4 “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name.”}}
Please regard these poems as a meditation on the word of God containing all the richness of this beautiful section of the bible.
I hope you enjoy them.
=============================================================
OOOOO - PSALM 9 - OOOOO
The Lord will execute His might
And judge impartially.
With righteousness will He uphold
His own with equity.
=========================
In times of trouble He will be
A stronghold for the weak.
For those oppressed, a stronghold is;
It is the Lord they seek.
=========================
And those who know Your name will put
Their trust in You, their Lord.
Then they will not forsaken be,
Nor have their pleas ignored.
=========================
All bloodshed will the Lord avenge,
But He remembers those
Who cry to Him - afflicted ones -
Who cry through hurt and woes.
=========================
Be gracious now unto me, Lord.
Behold afflictions here.
For those who hate me are the cause,
And they draw ever near.
=========================
I’m lifted up from gates of death
That I might tell Your praise.
Recount in places to Your own,
Salvation all my days.
=========================

OOOOO - PSALM 27 - OOOOO
The Lord is my salvation here.
Then whom shall I now fear?
The Lord is my defence and light.
Whom shall I dread to near?
=========================
But evildoers came to me;
They came my flesh to eat.
My adversaries tripped and fell.
My God brought them defeat.
=========================
And if a host draws up its camp;
Against me, has come near;
Though war arise against me too,
My heart will know no fear.
=========================
One thing have I asked from the Lord
And that is what I seek -
To dwell in God’s house all my days;
His beauty see, and keep.
=========================
For in the day of trouble, He
Will shelter me from it.
The secret place within His tent,
He’ll hide me every bit.
=========================
Upon a rock He’s lifted me.
My head He’s lifted high.
And I will sing, yes, I will sing;
To God my praises fly.
=========================
o o o o o o o -- o o o o o o o
OOOOO - PSALM 100 - OOOOO
Let all the earth shout joyfully.
With gladness, serve the Lord.
Before Him come with joyful song.
The Lord is God adored.
=========================
We’re made by God, not by ourselves.
His people now are we.
As members of His pastured flock,
We’ve come from places far.
=========================
We enter with thanksgiving hearts
Through gates, to courts with praise.
His lovingkindness is always -
His faithfulness displays.
