[071]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – EXCERPTS FROM CERTAIN PSALMS PART 2 – PSALMS 81, 37
{{Psalm 7:17 “I will give thanks to the LORD according to His righteousness, AND WILL SING PRAISE to the name of the LORD Most High.”}}
We have here PART 2 of the postings in illustrations that feature a series of Psalms. They all have special meaning for me especially concerning God’s care and His protection and deliverance. There are two Psalms in this posting. I have taken the thoughts, and often the wording in each Psalm, to compose those in poem form.
Every Psalm in the series has metre of 8-6-8-6 and can be sung if you like. There are many well-known tunes that fit that metre and here are some here - https://hymnary.org/search?qu=meter%3A8.6.8.6%20in%3Atunes&sort=totalInstances
** Psalm 81, a Psalm of Asaph, is a prayer for God’s help. In any kind of trouble or distress, our heavenly Father listens to the concerns of His own dear ones.
** Psalm 37 is a longer Psalm from David that covers a lot of matters. In the poem I was only able to select some of those. The wicked and their activities are dealt with. We are told to refrain from certain fears, and also some positive commands such as, do not fret (v 1); trust in the Lord (v 3); commit your way (v 5); rest in the Lord (v 7); cease from anger (v 8); depart from evil to go good (v 27).
There are some beautiful verses in Psalm 37 and here are some -
*** {{Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.}}
*** {{Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a man are established by the LORD and He delights in his way.”}}
*** {{Psalm 37:7 “Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him. Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.”}}
Please regard these poems as a meditation on the word of God containing all the richness of this beautiful section of the bible.
I hope you enjoy them.

EXCERPTS FROM CERTAIN PSALMS – PSALMS 81, 37
OOOOO - PSALM 81 - OOOOO
I call to You in trouble now;
O Father, answer me.
Your word has promise true and sure;
Your power, let it be.
========================
Your special place of thunder is
Where You, our Father, dwells.
From there - Your hiding place of strength -
Man’s wrath, Your answer quells.
========================
So hear me, Lord, in my distress;
Draw near to rescue me.
For God will answer all His own,
And lead them happily.
========================
o o o o o o o -- o o o o o o o
OOOOO - PSALM 37 - OOOOO
Like grass the evil doers fade,
And wither like green plants.
Because of this you need not fret
Or give a jealous glance.
========================
Trust in the Lord and thus do good;
Feed on the Faithful One.
Dwell in His land of faithfulness
Securely as His son.
========================
Delight yourself in God the Lord
And He will give to you,
Desires that your heart will seek -
What is correct and true.
========================
Commit your way unto the Lord
And trust Him to perform.
Your righteousness will He bring forth,
Your judgment light, the norm.
========================
Rest in the Lord and wait for Him;
In Him wait patiently.
Because of him who prospers much
Fret not in jealousy.
========================
Yet in a little while, the man
Of wickedness will cease.
If careful search be made for him,
No longer has he lease.
========================
The wicked plot against the good
And at him gnash their teeth.
But God sees that their day is near;
He laughs at him beneath.
========================
The sword is drawn, and bow is bent
To cast the needy down.
The upright they have planned to slay;
Afflicted ones, their crown.
========================
Their sword will enter their own heart;
Their bows will broken be.
The wicked will have broken arms;
The saints, sustained with glee.
========================
The Lord establishes the steps -
Those of a man, He makes.
But if he falls, or stumbled be,
No headlong path he takes.
========================
Depart from evil to do good.
Forever you’ll abide.
His godly ones He’ll not forsake;
Preserved, in God they hide.
========================
Descendants of the wicked, end -
Cut off from holy day.
The righteous will inherit good,
And He enjoys his way.
========================
The righteous mouth will wisdom speak;
His tongue, of justice too.
The law of God is in his heart;
His steps are sure and true.
========================
The wicked spies upon the good,
And seeks to kill him then.
The Lord won’t fail him in his hand,
Or let him be condemned.
========================
Now wait upon the Lord and keep
His way of victory.
When all the wicked are cut off,
That day you’ll surely see.
========================
A violent, wicked man I’ve seen,
Who ever spread himself
As does a luxuriant tree -
But now there’s nothing left.
========================
Salvation for the righteous is;
In trouble, He’s their strength.
The Lord helps them and rescues them -
A refuge of great length.
