[024] A Message From A Poem – At His Feet

[024] A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – AT HIS FEET
The expression “at His feet” is often used in the New Testament in regards to the Lord Jesus Christ as an expression of humility, worship and help. This is just one verse – {{Luke 7:38 “and standing behind Him WEEPING AT HIS FEET, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet, and anointing them with the perfume.”}} This unnamed woman in the city knew the state of her own heart and the glory of the Lord. Let me say that is how it ought to be for us.
When the Lord was here, people recognised the special place Jesus had and knew He could heal. On one occasion the people came bringing their friends and family members who were sick or disfigured or in a hopeless state as a last resort to Jesus so that He might heal them. Here is the mention of that – {{Matthew 15:30 “and great multitudes came to Him, bringing with them those who were lame, crippled, blind, dumb, and many others, and THEY LAID THEM DOWN AT HIS FEET and He healed them.”}} Jesus, of course, was the compassionate Shepherd who cared for the sheep, the lost ones of Israel and healed them.
The Apostle John was overcome by the revelation of Jesus Christ when He saw Him on the isle of Patmos. He recorded that experience this way – {{Revelation 1:17 When I saw Him, I FELL AT HIS FEET AS A DEAD MAN, and He laid His right hand upon me saying, “Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last,”}}
If we have never fallen at the feet of Jesus (figuratively) for salvation in our own lost condition, we will never, ever be seated at His feet in heaven. Those not saved are like the hopeless cases they brought to Jesus to be healed in the verse above. If that describes you, then turn to the Lord in repentance and be saved so that you might enjoy the very presence of your Lord as you worship at His feet. Your decision has eternal ramifications.
In this poem I have taken various scenes in the New Testament to construct each stanza. Hoping you are blessed by these words.
===========================================================
AT HIS FEET
At His feet, I know His peace.
At His feet, no mercies cease.
At His feet, I find true rest.
At His feet, this place, the best.
===========================
Mary knew that place so well.
Gratitude, her actions tell;
Her devotion clearly shown.
Love’s warm tears was love she’d known.
===========================
Magi who had travelled far,
Who had tracked the Infant’s star,
Stood before Him worshipping;
At His feet were honouring.
===========================
One cleansed leper at His feet
Freely worshipped there - so sweet.
He returned to give his thanks -
Joined the praising, thankful ranks.
===========================
Soldiers stood before His feet.
Thorny crown, this King to greet.
Mockery alone they bring,
Ignorant of Christ, the King.
===========================
John fell at His feet thought dead.
Majesty had caused such dread;
Much too great the glory seen -
Overpow’ring it had been.
===========================
All the glory His alone.
Worthy Lord, upon the throne!
Elders’ crowns cast at His feet.
Honour, power - for Him, meet.
===========================
At His feet, no better place
To appreciate His grace!
At His feet, no better choice
Could be made where to rejoice!

God's grace as the avenue of salvation is sometimes seen as being in conflict with obedience of the believer as a requirement, without which salvation cannot be obtained. Which is it, or is it a combination? Can this dichotomy be satisfactorily resolved?
