The Highest Calling Of The Bride Of Christ
Contributed by Dr. Larry Petton on Jul 17, 2023 (message contributor)
Revelation 19:7-9 - Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Revelation 21:2 - And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:9 - And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
Revelation 21:9-11 - And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
Matthew 25:1-46 - Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
The Bride is the Church.
The Bride is every believer in Christ.
The Bride is going to be married to Christ.
The Bride is longing to see her Beloved.
What is the main reason for the existence of the Bride of Christ today?
Some say it is evangelism.
Some say it is missions.
Some say it is to build the Church.
Some say it is to meet the needs of others.
Some say it to teach true doctrine.
Notice what Paul, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, says is the God-given purpose for the Bride of Christ in Ephesians 1:10-12:
"That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory."
Ephesians 1:12 tells us that the reason why we were chosen is to be “THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORY”. In other words, our highest calling on earth as the Bride of Christ is to bring glory and praise to the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ by our lips and by our lives.
One of these days in Heaven, we will worship at the feet of Jesus and be wed to Him at the Lamb’s Supper (Rev. 4-5). When we all get to Heaven, think of the things we WILL NOT be able to do any more.
• We won't be witnessing to lost people.
• We won't be sending missionaries to the unsaved.
• We won’t be printing Bibles or books.
• We won’t be laying hands on the sick or visiting hospitals.
• We won’t be casting out any demons.
• We won’t be serving those who are needy.
• We won't be performing any more funerals.
But……..one thing will last forever. We will be worshipping Jesus Christ, the Lord of all!
