Sermon Illustrations

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are mentioned by Jesus in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). The Trinity is seen clearly at the Baptism of Jesus in Matthew 3.

The Father speaks from Heaven.

The Son is baptized by John.

The Spirit descends upon Jesus to anoint His ministry.

The Father is not the Son or the Spirit.

The Son is not the Father or the Spirit.

The Spirit is not the Father or the Son.

He is one God, three distinct persons.

The Father, Son and Spirit were all witnessed at the Baptism of Jesus in Matthew 3.

The Father spoke from Heaven.

The Son was baptized.

The Spirit anointed Him and descended upon Him gently like a dove.

The Father, Son and Spirit comprise the Triune Godhead and that’s how God made us in His image (I Thessalonians 5). We are trichotomous beings. We are one but yet we are three – spirit, soul and body.

No one can fully comprehend the nature of God (Romans 11:33-34).
