Two Types Of Lives!
Contributed by Paul Clemente on Oct 29, 2022 (message contributor)
Genesis 4:6-26
Cain had an unrighteous heart and sinned against God in many ways including taking the life of his brother; but what can we learn from God as He related to Cain, from the following verses:
v6-7: God gave instructions how and why to repent.
v9: God was specific in confronting in confronting Cain and for Cain to confess.
v15-16: God provided protection for Cain’s life.
v17: God allowed Cain to have a family and to build a community.
If Cain was one of the first of the 2 sons from the first couple on earth (Adam and Eve), where did his wife come from? – Adam and Eve had other children. Cain married his sister.
Cain and wife had Enoch.
Enoch married and had Irad.
Irad – Mehujael – Methusahael – Lamech
Lamech had 2 wives:
Lamech/Adah – Jabal – families lived in tents and raised livestock
Lamech/Adah – Jubal – families were musicians
Lamech/Zillah – Tubal-Cain – families made tools from bronze and iron
Lamech/Zillah – Daughter Naamah
Based on what God states in v17-22, what can we say about people to that point in time? – People were hard working and creative, including the “arts”! However, we don’t hear them talking about God)!
v23-24? – Selfish pride was evident!
v25: Adam (Eve) had another son – Seth!
Who made a comment about God? – Eve the woman (mother)! Significance? – God highlights a worshipful and thankful woman!
Seth – Enosh
What’s significant about the last statement in v26? – Seth’s descendants were turning to God!
