Trust Issues
Contributed by Dr. Ronald Shultz on Jul 18, 2022 (message contributor)
John 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
As I and some of my fellow ministers have learned this is a good example to follow. Many who befriend you today will desert or betray you tomorrow. The same crowd that cried Hosanna also cried, Crucify Him! If they did that to the Lord, what can you expect if you follow Him?
I was raised in an age where we didn't trust anyone over thirty and in a few years I will be twice that. I will then doubly distrust myself let alone others.
I'm past the bitterness stage. I've learned to expect betrayal. If you want to do something for God you have to understand that satan won't just sit back and accept the attack on his domain with a shrug of his shoulders. He will mobilize the lost tares and back-slidden brethren to oppose you.
Indeed, each time we sin we betray Him and our homeland.
