Main Idea: Sin is a big problem and that is why we need a great Savior.

Verse: “We all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath…” (Ephesians 2:3 NKJV).

Illustration: How often do you sin in your thoughts, your attitudes, and in your actions? Let’s say you sin three times in one day. Personally, I probably sin three times before breakfast. Yesterday, I woke up in the morning a little grumpy because I had a hard time sleeping. My wife noticed the frown on my face and asked me, “How did you sleep?” I yelled at her from the bathroom, “Fine.” Right there, I sinned at least three times. First, I lied to my wife. Second, I am supposed to love her but instead I got upset at her. Third, I am supposed to “rejoice in the Lord always,” even when I have trouble sleeping. So, I sin a lot, but let’s say you are more holy than me, and let’s pretend you only sin three times each day. In one year, you would sin over one thousand times. How old do you want to be when you die? If you die at the age of eighty, that means you will have sinned over 80,000 times over the course of your lifetime. This shows how important it is for you to have someone save you from sin.
