The Billionaire’s Happiness
Contributed by Jim Butcher on Apr 11, 2018 (message contributor)
Jack Ma has a lot to be happy about.
He is the founder and executive chairman of the Alibaba Group, a tech company in China. Among the things going his way:
- His company went public in September 2014 and its worth shot up to $25 billion.
- He is the richest man in China.
- His company is the fourth largest tech company in the world, surpassed only by Apple, Google, and Microsoft. (He’s bigger than IBM and Facebook.)
And yet, all that success has not equated to greater happiness. Ma says that the best time of his life was over two decades ago when he was teaching English at a college in Hangzhou, making about $12 a month.
Just a little reminder in this month where we put endless emphasis on buying more and more stuff that more money does not equal more happiness.
