Laws - "are sent by Him to punish those who do wrong and commend those who do right." 2 Peter 2:14 - Keeping this truth in the context of guns. Nothing wrong with making sure there are laws which make it hard for wicked or mentally ill people from getting guns. Those (mentally ill or lawless people) who do illegal harm with a gun should be punished, to the max. Those who have a life of lawlessness, should not have guns. People who sell guns to that type of people should be held accountable. There are people who are responsible, normally law abiding people. Their right to own a weapon of defense, a gun that is of equal caliber to their would be/could be attacker must be protected. A person's right to own a gun of needed caliber for hunting or sport, must be in place. Any law that would indicated to a would be attacker that he has more gun power than the people he wants to harm is missing the heart of what God's word teaches. Example, no one defending himself or others wants a law that lets him have a revolver, while their attackers illegally have an assault rifle. Laws that keep schools, churches, public buildings or gatherings as soft targets is opening the door to more attacks.
