  • One of my favorite illustrations: "If you see the lights blinking, hear a horn sounding, feel the ground shaking, and a huge headlight is coming towards you,....chances are the train is coming........get out of the way.

  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Loves them. My wife, Minister Joyce Rose-Scott is a committed student of the Bible who entreats me to continue to spend "quality time" with God; so that the intimacy continues to create hunger, thirst and excitement as the Holy Spirit gives illumination and enlightenment.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "Be careful not to teach your sheep how to resolve conflicts with fighting, or else one day they will grow up, and fight you" (given to me by a veteran Pastor - Dr. A. R. Walker- of 52 years at the same church) "Either you take care of your God given calling and lead the sheep, or they’ll take the opportunity to lead you!" "Make sure that while you are fighting the beast, you don’t become the beast". "If you take care of God’s business, He will take care of your business".

  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Lost all my notes! Best thing that ever happened to me while preaching. Lady singing in choir, was singing before sermon, and her front teeth fell out of her mouth and onto the pulpit railing. (Yikes) A woman had a soda in her purse and it exploded during the sermon. (wow)
  • What I want on my tombstone: doesn’t matter, I won’t be reading it anyway (smile)
