The Trinity
Contributed on Jul 14, 2017
The Bible does not spell out “Trinity.” The idea of the Trinity is so ingrained in Christianity that it is nowhere described, but assumed in Scripture. Our text, for example, presents the Trinity as a fact, without explanation.
In our text Matthew 28:19, the 3 persons are presented, not argued. Mark 1:9-11 does the same thing. This is a core doctrine which no one can deny and still be called “Christian.” It’s not something that must be understood to be saved; rather, it is something that cannot be denied in full ...read more

God's Patience With Job
Contributed on Sep 24, 2007
The book of Jonah has been attacked because “there is no fish big enough to swallow a man whole;” but the book is quoted or cited 9 times in the NT, with ne’er a doubt to its authenticity.
1)Jonah’s disobedience 1:1-3. • Jonah had a wrong attitude toward the will of God. Obeying the will of God is as important to God’s servant as it is to the people. We are not told Jonah’s motive, but we do have Nineveh’s history. • They were powerful, vicious; burying enemies alive, filleting ...read more

Assurance Of Salvation
Contributed on Sep 28, 2006
How do we know for sure that we are really, genuinely, saved? Many things are blamed on God, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, plagues, famines. How do we know that God will keep His word?
Romans 5:6-11 1)Our condition before being saved was that we were helpless. • We were “without strength”: weak, sick, feeble, and powerless. We were spiritually worthless & unable to help ourselves. Our condition was desperate. • “For my life is spent with GRIEF, and my years with SIGHING: my ...read more

Justification's Results
Contributed on Sep 21, 2006
Justification: to count or show someone as if righteous; reckon, credit, account, judge, treat, or look on as righteous. It doesn’t mean to make a man righteous. Justified, we’re still sinners.
Romans 5:1-5 Justification: to count or show someone as righteous; reckon, credit, account, judge, treat, or look on as righteous. It doesn’t mean to make a man righteous. Justified, we’re still sinners. 1) Review: Paul established that justifcation is by faith. • Justification is not earned, ...read more

Jonah lost God’s voice. The word of the Lord had come to Jonah, but now God was speaking to Jonah through the sea, the storm, & even the great fish instead of visions & His Word. Samson lost the voice of God. When Samson’s hair was cut, we are told that he got up, ...read more

Contributed on Sep 28, 2006
I was there in the delivery room when my children were born. I remember the doctor delivering them, the nurse cleaning them up, and checking them out. They were helpless, weak, utterly dependant on the good graces of the people in charge of their care. They remained helpless for years, though ...read more

When A Person Is Arrested For Some Misdemeanor, ...
Contributed on Sep 19, 2006
When a person is arrested for some misdemeanor, they have the chance to "make bail," to get out of jail until their case is decided. Usually the bail bond is something like 10% of the total bail. The total has to be posted, but it works like a loan. If the miscreatant cannot get 10% together, ...read more
