About Terry
  • Education: BBS in Church Ministry from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX 1994 MA in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 1998
  • Experience: 9 years as full time Youth Education Minister. 6+ years as pastor.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I do my best to have original sermons. That does not mean that I borrow from various preachers that I look up to (John MacArthur, David Dykes, among others). Many on this website have helped me put my thoughts into better words and I'm forever grateful.
  • Family: Been married since 1992. We have two boys age 10 and 4.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: She glows when she watches me preach. My dad was proud as well (he has passed away).
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is proud but she is almost my best critic.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach to the Heart; Preach for life-change.
  • Books that have had an impact: Bible first and foremost; David Platt's books; 40 Days of Purpose; Experiencing God Study
  • Hobbies: golf (not enough); baseball (Texas Rangers); high school football; college football; family time
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Make sure you have trusted Jesus as your Savior and Lord. It is your choice, no one else's.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I got too close to the edge of the platform and slid down the steps. I did land on my feet.
  • What I want on my tombstone: A life of eternal significance for the glory of God.
