About Shane
  • Education: Currently working on Master of Theology.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Please feel free to use these as they will assist you, God has blessed me with great resources and I hope that you may find some of my thoughts refreshing to your work for the Lord.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The sermon series that has made the greatest difference in my life is the year theme we are in right now at HCC. We are focusing on John 8:36: "For if the Son sets you free you are free indeed". We are seeing lives transoformed and people growing closer to the Lord as they lay the burdens of their lives down at the foot of the cross and allow God to carry them away.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Story of Florence Chadwick swiming the English Channel but never reaching her goal because fog set in. SHe did not reach her goal because she could not see the goal she was swimming toward.
  • Family: I share my work and my life with my beautiful and supportive wife and two little girls. What a blessing God has given me in them as they are my best friends and supporters. They are truely a physical representation to me of what God is like for each of us!
  • What my parents think of my sermons: I believe my parents are proud of the work I am doing, but let me say the blessing to my parents is that they have three children to be tremendously proud of so I am a part of the greater picture in our family!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Not sure she hears many of them (or at least that is what she tells me) as she has to handle our youngest.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Don’t be a preacher at the people, be a preacher for the people. Find out what needs they have in their lives and mold your ministry around them, not what you think they need!
  • Books that have had an impact: Ray Cimballa’s book, "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire"
  • Hobbies: Spending time with my family whenever I can, Exercising, Baseball, Golf, Movies
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Reach out to the people you feel Christ would reach out to and share His love and patience with them. Pray for God to open doors for you in your life, but pray more that you will be willing to walk through what ever door the Lord opens!
