Tending The Fire
Contributed on Dec 24, 2014
It is ALL about a relationship with Jesus and it takes discipline to pursue Him. It is NOT meant as a guilt trip for those who do not have a daily quiet time, but practical helps on how to. *May be better preached as series. Lots of content, a bit rushed.
The Fire on the Altar - Leviticus 6:8-13 The LORD said to Moses: 9 “Give Aaron and his sons this command: ‘These are the regulations for the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the ...read more

Discovering God's Will
Contributed on Nov 26, 2010
Everyone seems to be interested in "discovering God's will for my life." These are general, practical guidelines to have others seek God for themselves to discover His will. This is the result of many pieces of counsel that I have shared in conversation
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will ...read more

God's Plan Is Not For Me To Be Happy, But Holy
Contributed on Mar 12, 2010
God's ultimate plan for me is to develop my character and make me holy, not to make my life easy so I am always happy.
Let's review what we have already discovered... A Myth – is a commonly held belief that is not true. Jesus Himself had to debunk spiritual myths as he challenged commonly held beliefs. Look at his repetition in the Sermon on the Mount: “You have heard that it was said…but I ...read more

Jesus Didn't Die On The Cross For Your Sins!
Contributed on Mar 9, 2010
Jesus didn't die (just) for your sins; He died for YOU and He deserves to get what He paid for.
An older gentleman was driving home from work when his cell phone rang. His wife was on the line in a panic and said, "Honey, be careful driving. I just saw on the TV that some maniac is driving the wrong way on the interstate!" The old man replies, "One? There's hundreds of them!" That ...read more

It's All About Me
Contributed on Mar 9, 2010
We live in a "me centered" world and that creeps into the church and I try to make spiritual things about what I want.
Allow me to begin with a little test. (I did an illusion called "What Next" where the dots on a card change and the audience is fooled.) Isn't it true that our eyes play tricks on us and we can be easily deceived? Here are some Bible passages that warn us of this. 2 Corinthians 11:2-4 2I am ...read more

Minnesota Crime ...
Contributed on Mar 12, 2010
Minnesota Crime Commission… "Every baby starts life as a little savage. He is completely selfish and self-centered. He wants what he wants when he wants it: his bottle, his mother's attention, his playmate's toys, his uncle's watch, or whatever. Deny him these and he seethes with rage and ...read more

Hurt Vs. Harm
Contributed on Mar 12, 2010
HURT VS. HARM There is a wonderful book entitled "Boundaries" in which the authors differentiate two words - Hurt and Harm. Think of these examples. If I were to eat an entire 2 pound bag of peanut M&M's (which I sadly am fully capable of doing!) would it hurt me? No, it would feel great! ...read more
