Your Worth at Christmas Text: Matthew 1:1,18-21
1.The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: 18.After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
What is the value of one soul? Some men place more importance on the popular, the famous, the rich, maybe a movie star, or an athlete, but Jesus Christ gave His life for the lowest to the highest. Think about this, who but God the creator would send Himself as a baby! It is not by coincidence that the genealogy of Jesus Christ is tied to David and Abraham!
Think about this in verse 1 Jesus Christ is listed with David-shepherd, King, warrior and praise and worship! Jesus Christ is listed with Abraham- Father of faith and friend of God!
So what’s in your genealogy? You might say, “Well not much, but I beg to differ with you! You are part of royalty, praise and worship, Kingly blood, faith-filled, anointed, you have a song in your heart, and you are a child of the Most High God!
Think about Jesus Christ the Messiah and Savior of the world being born in a lowly manger. A baby would bring deliverance for everyone!
In the book of Romans 12:3 it tells us that through the grace of God every person has been given a measure of faith!
Luke 2 say’s Mary brought forth the babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger. First of all, in the natural this sounds ridiculous!
You should understand how important you are to creation to be given such faith to believe!
In the physical it sounds like it would take someone being naive and gullible to believe that the Savior of the world would come as a baby! ( Isn’t that just like God?)
I Corinthians 2:1-2, 9-12 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 9.But as it is written: “ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, and the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

George Bailey had forgotten his worth! #1. You need to recognize the worth of your own soul!
I John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
George had almost forgotten his worth. ( Why if the devil can get you to doubt yourself he has you!) Anyone can become like Mr. Potter!
#2. Not only do you need to recognize your worth, but also you need to know your worth to others!
George Bailey received the chance to go back in time, as if he weren’t born. He saw the impact he had on his wife, children, the savings in loan, his brother, the poor and his towns name! (Portersville)
Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
