Message Point: We must take personable responsibility for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Focus Passage: Luke 16:19-31
Supplemental Passage: but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8 NASB)
Introduction: A one-legged school teacher from Scotland came to J. Hudson Taylor to offer himself for service in China. "With only one leg, why do you think of going as a missionary?" Asked Taylor.
"I do not see those with two legs going," replied George Scott. He was accepted.

I. We don’t do missions/evangelism because we really believe deep down that nobody’s going to Hell
a. We’ve bought into Satan’s lie that “God is good and won’t REALLY send anyone to Hell”
b. We listen the enemy of God instead of the Word of God
II. We don’t do missions/evangelism because we think we’ve hired someone else to do it
a. We think that if we send missionaries and hire evangelists, our part is done
b. We take no personal responsibility for missions, but instead pray, “God, bless them missionaries.”
III. We don’t do missions/evangelism because we are self-centered and too selfish to care
a. We get busy doing other things
b. We forget about anything outside our own, thinking we can’t really do anything about it anyway
Conclusion/Invitation: Are you just going to set back and be content to let others do the work of the Lord? Are you going to be satisfied with only giving money? Will you commit to pray? Will you commit to go? Will you commit to tell ONE person this week?
