YOUR DESTINY HELPER WILL NOT MISS YOU

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: 1 Samuel 9:15-17

"Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, ‘Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me.’ So when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, ‘There he is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over My people.’”

Supporting Texts: Genesis 41:9-14, Ruth 2:8-10, 2 Kings 5:1-3, Acts 9:10-17, Luke 1:39-45

INTRODUCTION

No man rises in life without the help of another. God's pattern for lifting men always involves the connection of destiny helpers—people strategically placed to usher us into the next phase of our lives. Many times, what people call luck or coincidence is actually divine orchestration, where God aligns the right people at the right time.

Saul was on a mission to look for his father’s lost donkeys, but he did not know that God had arranged for him to meet Samuel, the prophet who would anoint him as king. Likewise, many people have walked into their destiny not by their own ability, but by divine connections. Destiny helpers come in different forms—mentors, encouragers, recommenders, and divine burden-bearers.

This sermon will explore how God positions destiny helpers, how to recognise them, and how to avoid missing the connections God has prepared for you. As we engage with this message, may the Lord ensure that your destiny helper will not miss you in Jesus’ name!

1. GOD ORCHESTRATES DESTINY CONNECTIONS

Destiny helpers do not come by chance; God sends them at the right time.

a) God Speaks to Your Helper Ahead of Time – Before Saul met Samuel, God had already revealed the encounter to the prophet (1 Samuel 9:15-17).

b) Destiny Helpers Are Positioned at Strategic Locations – Ruth met Boaz at the field where she was gleaning (Ruth 2:3-10).

c) God Uses Situations to Lead You to Your Helper – Saul was looking for lost donkeys but ended up meeting Samuel (1 Samuel 9:3-6).

d) Divine Helpers Are Assigned to Your Purpose – The butler’s remembrance of Joseph led to his promotion (Genesis 41:9-14).

e) Biblical Example: Pharaoh’s Daughter and Moses – She was positioned by the river at the right time to find baby Moses (Exodus 2:5-10).

2. DESTINY HELPERS CAN RECOMMEND YOU FOR ELEVATION

Many promotions happen because someone speaks on your behalf.

a) Destiny Helpers Mention Your Name in High Places – The butler recommended Joseph to Pharaoh (Genesis 41:9-14).

b) Destiny Helpers See Potential in You Before Others Do – David was recommended to Saul as a skilful musician (1 Samuel 16:18-21).

c) Divine Recommendations Bring Sudden Lifting – Mordecai’s recommendation of Esther led to her favour with the king (Esther 2:7-9).

d) Destiny Helpers Introduce You to Opportunities – Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus (John 1:40-42).

e) Biblical Example: Naaman’s Maid – She connected Naaman to his healing by recommending Elisha (2 Kings 5:1-3).

3. DESTINY HELPERS CAN GIVE YOU DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS

Some helpers come not to give material help, but to provide divine guidance.

a) God Uses Helpers to Speak Instructions for Your Next Level – Samuel gave Saul directions to his kingship (1 Samuel 10:1-8).

b) Divine Instructions Unlock Supernatural Blessings – Peter obeyed Jesus’ word and caught a great number of fish (Luke 5:4-7).

c) Listening to Destiny Helpers Leads to Restoration – The widow at Zarephath obeyed Elijah and never lacked (1 Kings 17:8-16).

d) God Often Sends Wise Counsellors to Guide You – Jethro advised Moses on leadership structure (Exodus 18:13-24).

e) Biblical Example: Mary and Elizabeth – Elizabeth confirmed and strengthened Mary’s divine assignment (Luke 1:39-45).

4. DESTINY HELPERS BRING DELIVERANCE AND BREAKTHROUGH

Sometimes, God sends people to pull you out of difficult situations.

a) God Sends Helpers in Times of Crisis – Joseph’s brothers sold him, but the Midianites transported him to his destiny (Genesis 37:26-28).

b) God Positions People to Deliver You from Affliction – The Israelites’ cry led to Moses’ calling as a deliverer (Exodus 3:7-10).

c) Your Helper May Be an Unlikely Person – Rahab, a prostitute, saved the Israelite spies and secured her family’s safety (Joshua 2:1-14).

d) Destiny Helpers Can Bring Spiritual Deliverance – Philip was sent to lead the Ethiopian eunuch to salvation (Acts 8:26-39).

e) Biblical Example: Paul and Ananias – Ananias was sent to restore Paul’s sight and baptise him (Acts 9:10-17).

5. POSITIONING YOURSELF TO RECEIVE YOUR DESTINY HELPER

To connect with the helpers God has prepared for you, certain principles must be followed.
