LOOKING FOR A REMEDY
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr.

I am pondering:
Where am I?
Where should I be?
How do I get from where I am, to where I should be?
Paul wrote in Romans 7:24, O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I am searching for a remedy, a treatment that cures and brings relieve.
God has a correction to every problem.
Problems are but opportunities to trust God.
God will pull you through, if you can stand the pull.
Is it pure insanity to think I can stay the same, and pray God changes the whole world?
There is insanity in sameness.
While it is true, prayer changes things,
we need people to change, to step from glory to
glory.
Life is more than suffering defeat and being
discouraged all the time.
Marriage is more than where enemies sleeping in the
same bed.
1. GOD USES TIME AND PATIENCE!
God has a plan.
To everything there is a time.
Now is the accepted time, we need to focus on God and
search for solutions.
One of the wisest counselors is simply: TIME.
Healing can be a matter of opportunity and time.
I once knew a Pastor that had great difficulty with
a certain woman in the church.
The problem got so bad, the Pastor resigned and left
the ministry.
The lady hated the Pastor, the ex-Pastor hated the
lady.
The families grew in bitterness and hurt.
Many years later, the man was dying in the hospital,
the next day a critical surgery was planned,
he was not expected to live.
Guess who was in the room next to the man?
The same lady that had hurt the man so bad.
She had a heart attack, and was facing open heart
surgery the next day.
There was little hope for her.
The old man of God, quietly walked into her room,
they exchanged forgiveness that day.
Together they faced the common enemy of death.
Freedom came in forgiveness.
The tears flowed freely, and peace was made.
These two enemies of many years were facing death at
the same time, in rooms adjoining.
Was this a freak coincidence?
How could this have happened on the same day, same
hospital? On the same floor?
No, God used time and patience and restored His
children. Why wait until you are dying?
2. PATIENCE CAN HELP US TO CONTINUE.
Eph. 6:13, Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor
of God, that you may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND.
A patient is one awaiting care or treatment.
Are you waiting patiently?
We live in perilous times, hard times, ...
only those that stay in the Word, stay in the
church, and keep the whole armor of God,
will overcome.
3. DEFINE PATIENCE.
Patience should become a reinforced habit.
A. BEAR PAIN AND TRIALS CALMLY OR WITHOUT
COMPLAINT.
B. Forbear under provocation.
C. Steadfast despite opposition.
D. Long-suffering.
Endure, continue, stand firm, cheerful.
4. WATCH A SPIDER?
Have you ever watched a spider?
The spider will spend many hours, days, in great
effort spinning a web.
As the spider spins the web, the key factor will
become patience.
Many hours after the web is completed, the spider
waits and waits.
The spider must be very still and quiet.
The spider has a plan, but the plan can never
develop without patience.
As the spider waits, one day the spider will feel
the web moving, the food has come suddenly.
But there was nothing sudden about it.
It was patience released.
5. STAY COOL.
Keep strong, if possible, in any case keep cool,
have unlimited patience.
Never complain.
Never corner an opponent, always assist him to save
face.
Put yourself in his shoes, so as to see things
through his eyes.
Avoid the devil,
avoid self-righteousness, for there is nothing so
self blinding.
Basil Hart, 1960.
6. TO HAVE AND HOLD.
There is a verse I do not like,
and often the Holy Spirit reminds me of this verse.
Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your soul.
The NAS says: By enduring you will gain life.
The LB says: For if you stand firm, you will win.
We must in patience gain control.
Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you,
for sooner or later you will succeed.
It is always to soon to quit.
Try again. Then try again.
7. PATIENCE AND HOPE ARE COUSINS.
Romans 12:12, Rejoicing in HOPE; PATIENT in
tribulation, continuing instant in prayer.
8. PATIENCE SERVES AS A PROTECTOR.
Patience serves as a protection against wrongs and
hurt, much like clothes do against cold.
The colder it gets, the more clothes you put on, t
he warmer you will be.
