" Yes You Can " 1-21-01
Num 23:19
19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
(KJV)
there are many scriptures that tell us that we can trust in God’s word...
Ps 12:6
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
(KJV)
Ps 119:160
160 Thy word is true from the beginning:
(KJV)
Ezek 12:25
25 For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.
(KJV)
It is very plan and simple, when God speaks it or commands it, it will happen.
hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Ex. ch. 3 begins...
Moses leading sheep backside of wilderness
Angle of the Lord appears in burning bush
Moses sees this, notices not consumed
Stops to turn aside to see this great sight
God notices this he speaks to Moses saying,...
Exod 3:5-10
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
(KJV)
Moses has received his call from God... To deliver TCI out of Egypt.
However he does not accept this call w/ enthusiasm, or even graciously
in fact he gives God 5 reasons or excuses
Moses’s excuses, God’s Answers
1. No Ability...
Exod 3:11
11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
(KJV)
Here Moses is counting himself as being unworthy and not equal to the task.
He thinks God wants courage when he is actually asking for faith,...skill---obedience.
can you imagine receive this kind of call! Here you are in the middle of the desert, minding your own business, watching over some sheep, you see a burning bush that isn’t being consumed, and out of this bush a voice comes forth telling you that you are going to bring forth a whole nationality of people. What would be going through your mind? (EXCUSES)
God’s Answer:
3:12 I will be with thee
When we Say...
1. No Ability
God’s word says...
Phil 4:13
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
(KJV)
One characteristic that I like about God is that HE KNOWS WHAT HE WILL DO.
John 6:6
6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
(KJV)
(Story of 5,000 fed)
Here Jesus has crossed the sea of Galilee and a great company has followed him
because the have seen the miracles that he did to those who were diseased.
And Jesus went up into a mountain with his disciples and lifted up his eyes and saw this great multitude and asked " whence shall we buy bread that these may eat?"
And Philip answered saying" 200 pennyworth is not enough for them to eat."
Andrew comes forth say that there is a lad here with 5 loaves and 2 fishes.
And it is replied, but what are they among so many?
1. Here the disciples were visibly moved by the monumental task.
"Shall we go buy 200 pennyworth of Bread?"
B. They didn’t quite grasp what he said, He said "YOU GIVE IT TO THEM"--(In Mark)
