Word Study: Purgeth
Contributed by William R. Nabaza on Nov 28, 2017 (message contributor)
Summary: To show that GOD keeps on cleansing or pruning us for us to be like Him.
2. idolatries
2 Chronicles 34:3 (Amplified Bible)
34:3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young [sixteen], he began to seek after and yearn for the God of David his father [forefather]; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and molten images.
3. impurities
Isaiah 1:25 (New International Version)
1:25 I will turn my hand against you; I will thoroughly purge away your dross and remove all your impurities.
4. any forms of evil
Deuteronomy 24:7 (Amplified Bible)
24:7 If a man is found kidnapping any of his brethren of the Israelites and treats him as a slave or a servant or sells him, then that thief shall die. So you shall put evil from among you.
5. guilty consciences
Proverbs 28:17 (Amplified Bible)
28:17 If a man willfully sheds the blood of a person [and keeps the guilt of murder upon his conscience], he is fleeing to the pit (the grave) and hastening to his own destruction; let no man stop him!
E. Example of Pruning/Purging:
1. Job
Job 1:21 (Amplified Bible)
1:21 And said, Naked (without possessions) came I [into this world] from my mother’s womb, and naked (without possessions) shall I depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed (praised and magnified in worship) be the name of the Lord!
Look at his double growth after the pruning process:
Job 1:1-3 (Amplified Bible)
1:1 THERE WAS a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who [reverently] feared God and abstained from and shunned evil [because it was wrong].
1:2 And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
1:3 He possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very great body of servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East.
His sons, daughters and all his properties are removed or pruned away from him. After pruning, take a look at Job.
Job 42:12-13 (Amplified Bible)
42:12 And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
42:13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.
IX. CONCLUSION:
Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for I am cleanse by Your WORD, and Your blood from sin, unrighteousness and guilty consciences.
