Wonderfully Made

Today is Mothers Day and I applaud every mother. Mothers are special people. Not only did God bring Jesus into our world through a mother, but He has put you together and birthed you through one. We all have one thing in common; a mother.

The Psalmist wrote (Psalms 139:13-14 NIV) "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. {14} I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

We look around us today and realize that all of God’s works are wonderful. Please know that includes you. You are wonderfully made by God.

MADE BY GOD.

According to the Word of God, I am made by God. You are made by God. There are no accidents. It is God that creates us and knits us together in our Mother’s womb. This may be startling to you, but our parents had very little to do with it. God has made us and He longs to spend eternity with us.

We have been created to be God’s children through Jesus Christ. We have an earthly father and an earthly mother, but God’s desire is to adopt us into His family. The cost of adoption is high. There is a great price to pay. It’s more costly than gold and silver. It’s the precious blood of Jesus Christ. God adopts us into His family through the blood of Christ that was shed for us at the cross of Christ. Nothing but the blood of Christ can pay for our adoption. Our Heavenly Father shows us how much He loves us by sending His only begotten son to pay the price of our adoption.

YOU ARE WONDERFULLY MADE.

Some are tall. Some are short. Some are wide. Some are narrow. Some have thick hair. Some have thin hair. Some have light skin. Some have dark skin. Like snowflakes, all are unique and have been fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

Many today will pay great prices and go to great lengths to look different than they look. Some parts of their body are too big so they will pay to have them made smaller. Some parts of their body are too small so they will pay to have them made bigger. There are creams to grow hair and there are creams to remove hair. There are hair pieces, hair plugs, hair transplants and even spray hair in a can. There are nips and there are tucks and there are injections that tighten. Just think of the money spent on changing what God has fearfully and wonderfully made. I got on the Internet this week and used google.com to find some amounts that people spent to change the way they look. Americans spent $9.4 billion on cosmetic surgery and non-surgical procedures such as Botox in 2003. Americans spent $8 billion on cosmetics in 2005.

Please know that God has wonderfully made you in His own image and His own likeness. You are pleasing to His sight and He longs to spend eternity with you where He will give you a new body that will be perfect and never age. You won’t have to spend a penny on changing or on maintaining it.

ALL GOD’S WORKS ARE WONDERFUL.

We can look all around us at nature and see that God does wonderful work. From animals to vegetation; from mountains to valleys; from rivers to oceans; God is an artist that creates beauty. Every time we experience the beauty of nature we can be reminded that our creator has done a wonderful work in us and He has made us just how He wants us.

Becky and I saw a most beautiful sight this week as we went salmon fishing with our friends, Glenn and Corinna. We were on the Willamette River near Portland, Oregon. There rising far above the land was Mount Hood in all of it’s majesty reaching toward it’s creator. The sky was bright and blue with no clouds. It was sunny and in the seventies. And there before us was 11,249 foot Mount Hood all covered with snow reaching to heaven in praise and adoration to its creator. Wow! I can picture it now. And as I picture it in all of it’s beauty, I am reminded that the one who made it is the one that knitted each of us together in our mother’s womb. Beloved, he has wonderfully made us to be pleasing to Him and may we always reach toward heaven in praise and adoration to our creator. May we say as the Psalmist did (Psalms 139:14 NIV) "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
