Introduction

Good morning, beloved family in Christ. It is indeed a wonderful day to gather together, with hearts aflame for the Lord, to delve into the richness of His Word. Today, we turn our attention to a particular passage in the book of 2 Chronicles, chapter 20. A passage that is so profound, it resonates with our very souls, echoing the timeless truths that God is our protector, our problem solver, and our great provider.

Let's take a moment to read the passage together:

This passage, my friends, is a testament to the power of praise, the potency of prayer, and the providence of God. It is a reminder that when we are faced with insurmountable odds, when we feel the weight of the world pressing down upon us, we can look to our Lord, our God, our Savior, and know that He is with us, that He is for us, and that He will never forsake us.

In the words of the great preacher Charles Spurgeon, "Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths." Indeed, my dear friends, why should we carry the burden of tomorrow's troubles when we have a God who is more than capable of carrying them for us?

Praising for Protection

Jehoshaphat's response was to seek the Lord: He didn't panic or try to come up with a battle plan. Instead, he sought the Lord. He prayed to the Lord, acknowledging His power and sovereignty. He reminded himself and the people of Judah of God's faithfulness to their ancestors. He expressed his trust in the Lord's ability to deliver them from their enemies.

How we can respond to challenges in our own lives: When we face difficulties, we can seek the Lord. We can pray to Him, acknowledging His power and sovereignty. We can remind ourselves of His faithfulness in our own lives. We can express our trust in His ability to deliver us from our troubles.

Jehoshaphat sought the Lord in praise: He appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of His holiness. He understood the power of praise. He knew that praise has the ability to shift our focus from our problems to our Provider. It has the ability to lift our spirits and strengthen our faith. It has the ability to remind us of who God is and what He has done.

A lesson for us: When we face challenges, we can praise the Lord. We can sing to Him and thank Him for His goodness and faithfulness. We can remind ourselves of His power and love.

The power of corporate prayer and praise: Jehoshaphat didn't seek the Lord on his own. He gathered the people of Judah and Jerusalem and they sought the Lord together. They prayed together. They praised together. They stood together in faith, trusting in the Lord's protection.

The result of prayer and praise: As the people of Judah and Jerusalem prayed and praised, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies. He fought for them. He delivered them from their enemies. This is a powerful lesson for us. When we face challenges, we can trust that the Lord will fight for us. We can trust that He will deliver us. We can trust that He will protect us.

Praising in Problems

Jehoshaphat's praise is not a solitary act: He gathers the people of Judah and Jerusalem, and together, they lift their voices in praise to God ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
