"Why we needed Jesus to come"

The significance of Jesus’ coming, His life, death, and resurrection lies at the very heart of Christianity. Here’s a breakdown of why He needed to come and what makes His mission and salvation so profound:

• To Fulfill God’s Plan of Redemption: Humanity was separated from God due to sin. The record of this is found in Genesis chapter 3. Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Sin brought in death and condemnation. From the beginning, God promised a Savior to reconcile humanity back to Himself (Genesis 3:15).

• To Reveal God’s Character: Jesus is the exact representation of God’s nature (Hebrews 1:3). His coming demonstrated God’s love, holiness, mercy, and justice in tangible form (John 1:14; John 3:16).

• To Provide a Perfect Sacrifice: The Old Testament sacrificial system could not fully atone for sin (Hebrews 10:1-4). Jesus, being fully God and fully man, was the only one capable of offering a sinless, eternal sacrifice (2 Corinthians 5:21).

• To Defeat Satan and Death: Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) and conquer death, which entered through sin (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

2. The Significance of His Life

• He Lived a Sinless Life: Jesus fulfilled the law perfectly (Matthew 5:17; 1 Peter 2:22). This was essential for Him to be the spotless Lamb of God (John 1:29).

• He Demonstrated God’s Kingdom: Through miracles, teachings, and compassion, Jesus revealed the values and power of God’s kingdom (Luke 4:18-19; Matthew 4:23).

• He Taught Truth and Love: Jesus’ teachings (e.g., Sermon on the Mount) revealed God’s standards and showed how to live in relationship with Him and others (Matthew 22:37-40).

3. The Significance of His Death

• He Bore the Penalty for Sin: On the cross, Jesus took upon Himself the punishment we deserved, satisfying God’s justice (Isaiah 53:5-6; Romans 5:8).

• He Reconciled Us to God: His death removed the barrier of sin, making a way for us to be in fellowship with God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19; Ephesians 2:13-16).

• He Demonstrated God’s Love: The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God’s sacrificial love (John 15:13; Romans 5:8).

4. The Significance of His Resurrection

• Victory Over Sin and Death: Jesus’ resurrection proves that He defeated sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:54-57).

• Validation of His Identity: His resurrection confirms that He is the Son of God and the Savior of the world (Romans 1:4).

• Hope of Eternal Life: Because Jesus lives, believers are promised resurrection and eternal life with Him (John 11:25-26; 1 Peter 1:3).

• Empowerment for Believers: Jesus’ resurrection ensures that the same power that raised Him from the dead is available to His followers (Romans 8:11).

5. The Salvation He Offers

• Forgiveness of Sins: Through Jesus, we can receive complete forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 1:9).1 John 1:9 : 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

• Reconciliation with God: We are brought back into right relationship with God (Romans 5:1; Colossians 1:21-22).Romans 5:1: ?Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

• Transformation and New Life: Salvation is not just about eternal life; it also brings transformation in this life (2 Corinthians 5:17).

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

• Eternal Life: Jesus offers the gift of eternal life to all who believe in Him (John 3:16; Romans 6:23). Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

• Adoption into God’s Family: Believers are made children of God and heirs of His promises (Romans 8:14-17).Romans 8:14–17 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,

17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

Jesus came to bridge the gap between humanity and God, offering hope, peace, and eternal life. His life showed us how to live, His death paid the price for our sins, and His resurrection secured victory over death. Through faith in Him, anyone can receive the gift of salvation (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
