Summary: God never promised us a rose garden nor will all of our days be filled with sunshine, there’ll be a little rain sometimes. But nonetheless God has prepared the path and left us a map and instructions as to how to run, walk or stand as we proceed on our journey.

Intro: I pray that today’s message will be ammunition to help you gain the advantage of the battle in life which we all will have to combat someday. Signs of that day may appear all around us. We may hear warnings from the pulpit or when we read God’s Word, or it may come as a complete surprise. God never promised us a rose garden, nor will all of our days be filled with sunshine, there’ll be a little rain sometimes. But nonetheless God has prepared the path and left us a map and instructions as to how to run, walk or stand as we proceed on our journey. If we will obey His instructions and follow His map, there are certain promises that will assure us of the victories over these battles.

When fear comes upon us it is usually accompanied with a sort of darkness. We may reach out our hand in the darkness searching for a guiding hand. Isaiah’s words found in the 41st chapter off his book assures us of just one of God’s promises.

Isa 41:13. “For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” KJV

A story was told of a tender-hearted surgeon was walking through the large ward of a big hospital when he saw a little girl with her eyes bandaged, in total darkness and in destress waving her little hand back and forth as if trying to grasp someone’s hand. The surgeon went up to her and grasped that outreaching hand. Instantly there was a change of attitude and a release of stress. The little one was comforted and became restful and contented. The surgeon did not remove the bandages nor did the darkness give way to light; all he did was grasp her hand while still in the darkness.

That child may be someone within the sound of my voice today. You may be in a spiritual darkness with a sense of loneliness, darkness and desolation, yearning for the touch of a strong hand and the sound a strong unwavering stable voice that echoes and vibrates through you, “Fear not; I will help thee.” And again, the voice thunders, “Fear not, I have called thee by thy name.” Suddenly, the lightning flashes and in the darkness and you get a glimpse, but you can clearly see the image of a man with an outstretched hand beckoning you to take His hand. Then you realize He was there all the time waiting patiently in line. With your hand in His, with His strong right arm He draws you to His bosom, you fill the heartbeat and the tears of an undying love flowing down His cheeks and you ask the question, “Why Me Lord.”

1. The Lord is Redeemer: “Why me Lord”, What have I ever done, to deserve even one of the treasures I’ve known? It is an undeniable truth that You are Redeemer, but “Why me Lord?” I know that it’s for others, but is it really for me Lord? Surely the text of today’s message would settle that, “Fear not, I have redeemed thee, “Fear not, I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine.” He called me! And He came to assure me that it is a call for and to me, because He calls me by my name.

2. He Lives: Well, if He calls me and I can hear His voice and I can feel the touch of His mighty strong hand, then He must live. I believe and declare, that He lives today. He walks with me and He talks with me as I journey through dark hills.

3. He is Near Me: If I can hear His voice and I can feel His touch then He must be near me. James 4:7-8. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. KJV

4. He Remembers Me: This entire scripture declares that He remembers me and I am not forgotten. He never forgets me, I am never lost in the crowd. He Knows My Name!

Matt 12:19. “He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. Being my Savior, He desires to become my very close friend and adviser. I believe and declare that He calls me by my name so that He might put His name upon me.

Conclusion: But Why Me Lord. As our text today states, “Thou art Mine” I created you so that I could walk with you and talk with you in the garden in the cool of the day. I and offered you a daily, intimate relationship so that we could have fellowship together. I long to be with you so that you may know that My love for you is bigger than all your problems, deeper that the lowest valley, higher that the highest mountain, wider that the biggest sea, My love is Stronger than anything that you can and cannot see. Why? Simply because you are Mine.
