WHY GOD MADE THE DEVIL

TEXT: EZEK 28:14-19

INTRO: Some will ask, If God made every thing, why did he make evil?

1. What is evil? Ans: The opposite way from God’s way.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

2. Who is the Author of evil? Ans: Satan

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh

a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

3. How did evil originate? Ans: In the heart of Satan

Ezek 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Ezek 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

4. Why did the Devil sin? Ans: Pride

Ezek 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

5. Did God know what Satan was going to do? Ans: Yes, since He knows every thing, past , present and Future. But God made many Other Angels and He made us. God decided to give all a free will so they could love Him of their own free will. Satan, some of the Angels, and some Humans, have decided to reject God’s will and God’s love and try to exalt themselves above God.

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the

congregation, in the sides of the north:

If Satan had not sinned, why did God make him?

I/ TO REFLECT GOD’S GLORY

"Anointed Cherub"(vs 14) "set on the holy mountain of God"

a. Highest Angel - Closest to God

b. Satan wanted to be the object of worship!

Lesson #1 - If God decides to use you, be sure God gets the Glory!

Lesson #2 - Surrender to the will of God, for it is not safe, even around

God’s Throne, unless He is Lord. (Uninvited Guest Matt 22:11-13)

Lesson #3 - God made us for the same reason - To reflect His Glory

II/ FOR GOD’S SERVICE

"Multitude of merchandise" (vs 16)

a. To pass on blessing from God to others in heaven

b. But Satan wanted to keep the blessings and worship for Himself

Ezek 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic;

Can you see the picture, All of the blessings of God going out from His Throne to the creatures of Heaven, and all the worship of the creatures of Heaven coming in towards God, and Satan standing there, wishing some

of that worship was for Him, since He was so beautiful.

Lesson #1 - Let people see Jesus in you, do not take center stage

Lesson #2 - Don’t hide your Light, and keep it to yourself.

III/ TO BLESS HIM

"thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire".(vs 14)

thy beauty, thy wisdom, thy brightness:(vs 17)

a. Satan was made for Fellowship and Glory

b. Satan was not satisfied

Lesson #1 - Men were also created for fellowship with God. Sin breaks

That fellowship, Christ can restore it.

Lesson #2 - Be satisfied with Christ’s work on the Cross & do not try to add to it.

IV/ CLOSER TO HOME, WHY DID GOD MAKE US?

Answer: For all the same reasons! Our test and our choice is made here in this world, which way will you go?
