Summary: WHY DID JESUS PUT MUD ON A BLIND MAN'S EYES? In this sermon outline we ask the question why would Jesus put clay on a blind man's eyes and try to give a reason for Him to do so to the blind man. I believe everything Jesus did was to help us in our knowled
I. The man who was born blind is restored to sight
A. Why did Jesus choose to heal him in this manner?
1. The man stood in front of Jesus and He looked at the man.
a. What did Jesus do? He took some earth and spit into it and molded it. 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
b. Then He placed the mud on the blind man's eyes.
c. Why do it this way? We must look at the Word that tells us in John 1:1-3 (KJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
d. Jesus was there in the beginning and things were made by Him.
II. When the man stood before the Lord He looked at his eyes and saw he was blind.
A. Perhaps the man had not eyeballs. However, what ever was missing Jesus saw it.
1. Since man is made from the dust of the earth Jesus just reached down and created what was missing.
a. It does not record this but I believe it is a good answer.
B. Then the man had to put his faith in action and go to the pool and wash his face and eyes. 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing
1. Faith without works is dead. This man put his faith in action and acted upon the words of Jesus.
C. He is healed. Born blind but now he can see.
III. He is brought to the Pharisees, as they wanted to tear down the work of Jesus.
A. They hated the Lord because He did not do it through them and under their authority and tradition.
B. The Pharisees rejected the blind man because they rejected Jesus. 34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
1. Now everyone wants to hear our testimony but we share with all what Jesus means to us and what He has done for us.
IV. Christ receives him.
Jesus never turns anyone away. John 6:37 (KJV) All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 935 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
