Why Did Jesus Come?

Summary: An explanation of some of the reasons why Jesus came to earth. Suitable for Christmas.
2] Children love - Last night, when I left the house, going back to my office Drew came up, hugged me and said, “Daddy I love you. I love you more than you love me.”
Now, there is no way he can love me more than I love him, as any parent can tell you. But, I’m moved by his sentiment. He does love me.
Have you noticed how loving most of the children in our church are? They love to give people hugs.
That’s one of the things God expects of His children. The Bible says, we are to love God with everything in us.
Let me ask you my friend, can you truthfully say that you love God? Does your love for Him affect the way you live and the things you do?
Jesus came to show us the person of God. He came to show us the love of God and the expectations of God, but He also came to show us the way to God.
IV. JESUS CAME TO SHOW US THE WAY TO GOD
> John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
> Revelation 3:20 Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in ...
Not through rules, not through regulations, but through a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

CONCLUSION
Some of you this morning, have wandered away from the Lord, and believe you’ll never get it right, you’ll never get close to God again.
In 1758, Robert Robinson wrote one of the most loved hymns of the Christian church, “Come, Thou Fount.” Part of the song says,
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it.
Prone to leave the God I love.
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it.
Seal it for Thy courts above.
A lot of people don’t know that after writing that hymn, Robinson fell and his own sin and failure caused him to lose his belief that God could still love him. Years later, on a summer evening he was riding in a carriage with a lady friend. They rode past a church and heard the words of the hymn Robinson had written so many years before, coming from the open windows of the church.
Robinson began to cry. His friend asked him why he was crying and he told her that he had written that hymn. “I would give everything I own,” he said, “to know the peace I knew when I wrote that hymn.”
How I wish he had understood, how I pray that you will understand today, that no matter how far you have wandered, God will still welcome you home. ... Prodigal son.
