VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Light shines in the darkness

"And the Light shines on in the darkness,"

JESUS appeared in midst of darkness but darkness cannot understand JESUS. No believer can say that he reached out to GOD, or he came near to GOD.

Matthew 12:34 (Amplified Bible)

12:34 You offspring of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil (wicked)? For out of the fullness (the overflow, the superabundance) of the heart the mouth speaks.

Luke 6:45 (Amplified Bible)

6:45 The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks.

People say things that will make them look good on the outward appearance or the external, they are always concern what people will say to them and in their backs. But as believers, we have no concern like that because we know our good reputation and good name is protected by the LORD.

Proverbs 22:1 (Amplified Bible)

22:1 A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.

Ecclesiastes 7:1 (Amplified Bible)

7:1 A GOOD name is better than precious perfume, and the day of death better than the day of one’s birth.

We have a family name - JESUS CHRIST. We have a good name inherited from the Father of lights.

James 1:17 (Amplified Bible)

1:17 Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].

James 1:17 (King James Version)

1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

That's why the Father GOD is called "Father of lights" because we are the light of this world. The LIGHT which is the LORD JESUS CHRIST delegated his light unto us, so we can do his job and work here on earth, that is to spread the light.

John 9:5 (Amplified Bible)

9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the world’s Light.

Matthew 5:14 (Amplified Bible)

5:14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

John 8:12 (Amplified Bible)

8:12 Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life.

B. Darkness can't comprehend the Light

1. They call evil good and good evil

2. They put darkness for light and light for darkness

3. They put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

"for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it]."

Isaiah 5:20 (Amplified Bible)

5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Isaiah 42:16 (Amplified Bible)

42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known. I will make darkness into light before them and make uneven places into a plain. These things I have determined to do [for them]; and I will not leave them forsaken.
