Whole Wheat Or White?

Summary: They did not recognize Jesus for who He is. Do we?
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
(NIV)
Matt 6:31-34
31 So do not worry, saying, ’What shall we eat?’ or ’What shall we drink?’ or ’What shall we wear?’
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
You see the crowds had come, many of them simply seeking physical food from Jesus, like he gave them the day before, but now He is trying to tell them about a spiritual food, a food that will not just sustain temporarily but rather a spiritual food that will sustain forever and ever.
28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
30 So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?
31 Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: ’He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’"
They now understand His claim to be the “one God has sent” but the proof that they request is more bread like they got the day before, you know bread from heaven, manna like their ancestors ate in the desert.
They have before them the very incarnation of God and the proof they request, is a loaf of bread.
32 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
34 "Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread."
They still think that Jesus is about to provide lunch as proof that He is the Son of God.
35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
The “I Am” of the Book of Exodus, The “I AM” of the burning Bush, The “I AM” of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob stands before them offering them eternal life if they will but believe and most of them are unable to see the offer because they are concerned with the prospect of a free lunch. Many of them will perish in the fires of an eternal hell because a few mouthfuls of bread will distract them from eternal life that is standing right in front of them in the flesh.
Oh how serious this choice can be over bread. Do you want physical bread that only satisfies for a short time or do we desire spiritual bread, bread that comes down from heaven, bread that satisfies forever and ever?
How sad that the eyes of their souls were blinded by the desires of their stomachs and they missed him. They missed Him and they missed His offer. Just a few verses latter in verse 41 we read their reaction:
