Who Shall I Send? Series
Contributed by Mark Nichols on Nov 28, 2017 (message contributor)
Summary: When faced with God’s POWER and God’s PLAN, our response to God’s question "Whom shall I send?" will be the same as Isaiah’s! HERE AM I, SEND ME!
God wants you to impact those he’s placed in your lives! Friends…family….neighbors…God has a plan…and that plan includes you!
I want you to take some time and read the scripture on screen. Or turn to your Bible and read it out of there.
2 Corinthians 5:11-20
11Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. 12We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. 13If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
16So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
What does it mean?
Did you catch it? Especially verse 20. We are the ones God will use to send His message…our message is this: BE RECONCILED TO GOD!
CONCLUSION: Did you read Isaiah’s response to God’s call?
Verse 8b “Here am I. Send me!”
Why was Isaiah able to answer in this way? Isaiah saw that God is Powerful and that God has a plan! Today, I want you to know…I want you to be certain…that God is powerful and that God has plan! And the best part is He wants you to be involved! To experience His power. To carry out His plan! That includes reaching a world with the message that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life! That Jesus died for the sins of the world!
This morning, we offer a time of decision. If there is someone here today who isn’t a Christian…who has never been baptized for the forgiveness of sins…I want to encourage you…I want to implore you on Christ’s behalf to be reconciled to God.
But I also want to open this invitation up for someone who desires to answer God’s call! Who will make the commitment today to share Jesus with a friend…with a neighbor…with a family member who needs it! Come forward and make this commitment known today so we can pray for you! So can encourage you!
Won’t you respond by saying, “Here am I…Send me!” Let’s stand and sing…
