Deut 12:5-14 &28
We need get where go wants us to go
I feel like the body of Christ is wandering
Made a vow to set and discuss where our church is headed
Where there is no vision, the people perish---
I have a direction in my family
1. love my wife- grow old, get grouchy, watch our kids grow
2. love my kids- see them excel, grow, fail, succeed, what will they look like etc.
3. love my God- I want to seek more of God’s power
see the dead raised- withered hands healed, what God has for me
YOU SEE I HAVE A VISION- I NEED VISION,
SO I CAN BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE-
I know where I want to see this church go-
I want relationships- with each other, with God,
I want to make disciples, find people’s giftings,
I want our #’s to grow, but if that means you’re not growing- I pick YOU
Unfortunately- As Christians and humans- we’re lost
“where you gonna be when you turn 50, 60, 70,”
Too many people don’t know
WHERE YOU HEADED? SOUTH! Victoria? Mexico?
What are some things that will increase our success, and our journey
It was important to Moses, in this passage- Tell them where they’re going
Vs.10-11>
1. Begin with the end in mind
Church we gotta quit working for something-
Start working toward something
1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-26
Know where the finish line is!
Look at it run toward it
Don’t just beat the air- take a big deep breath of it- find your place
Sometimes YOUR end is wrong, at least have one
We moved to Lubbock- COUPLE YRS. WERE GONE
JEFF”S MOM SPOKE A WORD OVER MISSY
We will minister in Lubbock- till we’re through ministering
Pastors think of, BIG CHURCH, BIG TITLE, BIG CHECK
I don’t want any of that- except BIG CHECK
GOD has changed my mind on what the end is---
STILL HAVE AN END
Church, begin with the end in mind
Isaiah 46:9-10
God declared your end at beginning
Satan comes to Him, “SEE WHAT OLE SHANES DOING?”
God can’t talk about our past, too busy seeing our future
2. Read the instructions
WE DON”T NEED NO STINKIN’ INSTRUCTIONS
Know what going on around you
Make sure you have all the parts,
All the tools, all the wisdom
TO ASSEMBLE A GREAT LIFE
I don’t put anything together
But in life- SOME ASSEMBLY IS NESSECARY
Were always so busy talking about how we can put it together
2 hours later, finally read- do it right
WE NEED TO LISTEN MORE THAN WE TALK
In the movie “PULP FICTION”
2 kind of people in the world
1. Those who listen
2. Those who wait to talk
Jesus said 16 TIMES in New Testament
“HE WHO HAS AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR”
Either there was a lot of people earless,
Or Jesus is trying to tell us something
JOKE- A woman sees on the news that there is a crazy driver going down the wrong side of the Interstate. She phones her husband, on his way home, to warn him of the driver. He answers and she says, "Be careful, some idiot is driving down the wrong side of the Interstate." Her husband responds, "Not just one, there’s hundreds driving down the wrong side of the Interstate.
Quit talking start listening, read the instructions
Listen to your spouse- THE BEST GODLY COUNSEL I HAVE- MISSY
Spend less time telling God what you want, more time waiting for him give- need
Psalm 37
3Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
3. Put first things first
Prioritize your life- Your job isn’t the most important thing
Are you loving your spouse, do your kids like you
Spend half the time, that you do worrying about bills,
Studying the word, praying to God, and waiting for Him to speak
Telling your wife, how beautiful she is, recognize what she does
Your husband, how much you appreciate what he does,
Listen to your kids read, watch a movie with them
Tell your parents thank you for not killing you,
when you were growing up
Getting these things in order—makes, jobs, opportunity. Witty invention- abound
Recently- spent too much worrying, working, getting the church ready,
2 weeks, I was impossible to live with
griping- yelling- whining- moaning- groaning
Waiting for Missy to say, “GET a new attitude, or a hotel room”
I began spending more time with Missy, and the kids
Doing stuff, getting out, studying more, praying more
Luke 12:22-27 & Vs. 34
4. Sowing good seed- I can’t stress it enough
Sow mercy- so when you need it- you’ll reap it ETC.
