Summary: • Others believe that it was an eclipse. • But the Bible is clear and true that the sun and the moon actually stood still.
1. POWER OF DECLARATION.
Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
2. God answers prayer.
a. God honors and answers the prayer of His people.
b. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a human being. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!
c. John 16:23
In that day, you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, My Father will give you whatever you ask in name.
d. Our prayer is our faith.
3. God is Sovereign. Nothing is impossible with God.
a. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
b. Luke 1:37.
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
c. Job 26:7
He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.
d. If God can make the sun and the moon to stand still, He can also put on hold anything until you see the deliverance of God happening.
