INTRODUCTION:
Rejection is one of the most painful experiences in life. It brings feelings of abandonment, invisibility, and unworthiness. Many people carry wounds caused by rejection from family, friends, society, or even those they once trusted. Yet, the story of Rachel in Genesis 30 reveals a powerful truth: God remembers the rejected. When God steps in, the one who was forgotten becomes a testimony of divine favour.
Divine remembrance is not that God forgets; rather, it means the time for His mercy and intervention has come. It is the moment when God arises to fulfil promises that seemed delayed. Rachel waited long, watching her sister bear children while she lived in shame, but when the appointed time came, “God remembered Rachel.” That remembrance changed her story.
God’s remembrance is a turning point that brings breakthrough after long waiting. The same God who remembered Rachel, Hannah, and Elizabeth will remember you. He never abandons His own. When men reject you, God prepares a season to reveal His glory through your life.
1. GOD NEVER FORGETS HIS OWN
When people forget your kindness, labour, or existence, God still remembers you and your tears.
a) God’s Memory Is Perfect — Isaiah 49:15-16
Even if a mother forgets her nursing child, God says, “I will not forget you.” You are engraved on His palms.
b) God Keeps Record of Your Labour — Hebrews 6:10
He is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love. Every act of service is noted in heaven.
c) God Sees the Hidden Tears — Psalm 56:8
The Lord bottles your tears and counts them. Nothing you endure goes unnoticed.
d) God’s Timing of Remembrance Is Perfect — Ecclesiastes 3:11
He makes everything beautiful in its time; when your time comes, remembrance manifests.
Biblical Example: Noah was remembered in the flood (Genesis 8:1). Though surrounded by water, God sent a wind that began his deliverance.
2. GOD’S REMEMBRANCE REVERSES REPROACH
When God remembers you, He removes every shame and restores your dignity.
a) God Lifts the Lowly — 1 Samuel 2:8
He raises the poor out of the dust and sets them among princes.
b) God Turns Barrenness into Fruitfulness — Genesis 30:23
Rachel said, “God hath taken away my reproach.” The one who was barren became fruitful.
c) God Turns Mockery into Celebration — Luke 1:57-58
When Elizabeth gave birth, her neighbours rejoiced with her, saying, “The Lord hath shown her great mercy.”
d) God Restores Lost Honour — Joel 2:25-27
He gives back the years that were wasted and makes you eat in plenty.
Biblical Example: Hannah was mocked by her rival, but when God remembered her, she gave birth to Samuel, a prophet and national blessing (1 Samuel 1:6-20).
3. DIVINE REMEMBRANCE BRINGS RESTORATION AND REWARD
God’s remembrance does not only change your situation; it rewards your faith and restores what was lost.
a) God Restores the Forgotten — Genesis 41:14
Joseph was remembered in the prison after years of delay and brought into the palace.
b) God Rewards the Faithful — Galatians 6:9
In due season, those who do not faint shall reap.
c) God’s Remembrance Brings Supernatural Turnaround — Psalm 126:1-2
When the Lord turned the captivity of Zion, they were like those who dream.
d) God Compensates for Every Season of Waiting — Isaiah 61:7
For your shame, you shall have double, and for confusion, rejoicing in your portion.
Biblical Example: Mordecai was forgotten for years, but one night, God caused the king to remember him, leading to his honour and promotion (Esther 6:1-11).
4. GOD REMEMBERS THROUGH COVENANT AND INTERCESSION
God’s remembrance is often triggered by covenant relationship and the prayers of the righteous.
a) God Remembers Covenant Promises — Exodus 2:24
When Israel groaned in Egypt, God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
b) Intercession Brings Divine Remembrance — 1 Samuel 1:10-11
Hannah prayed earnestly, and God remembered her plea.
c) God Remembers His Word — Psalm 105:8
He remembers His covenant forever and performs His promises.
d) Jesus, Our Mediator, Ensures Constant Remembrance — Hebrews 7:25
He ever lives to make intercession for us before the Father.
Biblical Example: The thief on the cross prayed, “Lord, remember me,” and Jesus assured him of paradise (Luke 23:42-43).
CONCLUSION:
God’s remembrance is not a matter of time but of divine timing. When He remembers, delays end, reproach is lifted, and promises are fulfilled. The God who remembered Rachel, Hannah, Joseph, and Noah is still alive today.
When God remembers the rejected, He changes their identity from forgotten to favoured, from barren to fruitful, from mocked to celebrated. Therefore, wait patiently, serve faithfully, and believe continually. Your remembrance is near, and your testimony is at hand.
