Summary: Giving glory to God is a fundamental aspect of our faith.

Giving glory to God is a fundamental aspect of our faith. When we fail to acknowledge and give thanks to God for His blessings, we risk turning those blessings into curses. We will explore the biblical basis for this truth and the consequences of neglecting to give glory to God.

Thanksgiving is a powerful practice that can transform our lives and our relationship with God. When we choose to focus on the goodness of God and express our gratitude, we open ourselves up to a deeper level of faith, hope, and joy.

The Warning in Deuteronomy

Deuteronomy 8:17–18 warns us, “You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” When we fail to give glory to God, we risk forgetting His role in our lives and attributing our success to our own abilities.

The Consequence of Forgetting God

Psalm 50:21 says, “These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face.” When we forget to give glory to God, we risk inviting His rebuke and accusation.

The Curse of Disobedience

Malachi 2:2 says, “If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to my name, I will send a curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken it to heart.” When we fail to give glory to God, we risk inviting a curse upon our blessings.

The Blessing of Giving Glory

On the other hand, when we give glory to God, we invite His blessings and favor. Psalm 100:4–5 says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and bless his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

Giving glory to God is not just a nice gesture; it is a necessary aspect of our faith. When we fail to give glory to God, we risk turning our blessings into curses. Let us remember to always give thanks to God and acknowledge His role in our lives, so that we may continue to experience His blessings and favor.
