St. Mark 5:22-43

Topic: What to do when you are in a hopeless situation

In these passage of scriptures in St. Mark 5:22-43, we read about man by the name of Jarius, who was one of rulers of the synagogue who had a 12 year old daughter who sick at the point of death. The scriptures says that Jarius sought out Jesus and asked him to come to his house so he could lay his hands on his daughter so she could be healed and live. Jarius sought out Jesus to heal his 12 year old daughter because he saw Jesus not just a good teacher, not just a good man, but He saw Him as a healer. No doubt Jarius had heard some good news about Jesus being someone who can heal the sick, give sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, and cast out demons. And when he heard that Jesus was in the town, He sought out Jesus to come to his house to heal his 12 year daughter whom he loved very much. Now the lesson we can learn from Jarius in these passage of scriptures in that when you are faced with a seemly hopeless situation, you need to seek out the Lord for help. Just like Jarius when he sought out the Lord to come to his house to lay hands on his daughter so she can be healed., we need to seek out the Lord so he can help us when we find ourselves in a hopeless situation. Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near.

Also St. Matthew 6:22 says, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

And also it says in 2nd Chronicles 7:14 where it say, “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

And while Jesus walked with Jarius to go to his house to heal his daughter, there came a woman who had a issue of blood for 12 years. For 12 long years, this woman went from doctor to doctor with hopes to get healed, and she even spent all of her life savings to find a cure for sickness, but yet through it all, she was still sick. But yet she had heard that Jesus was passing nearby in her town, and she too had heard like Jarius that Jesus can heal the sick. So she said to herself, “If I may touch the hem of his garment, I shall be made whole.” Now when she saw Jesus, she saw him crowded around a whole lot of folks. Now this woman could have given up trying to reach Jesus because there was a whole lot of people crowding around Jesus. And technically she really wasn’t suppose to be in public because during that day and time, if a woman was diagnosed with a issue of blood, they were considered unclean, and prohibited from being in the public with the fear that if they touch somebody, they too would be made unclean. But this woman was determined to get to Jesus, no matter how sick she was , no matter how much pain she was in, no matter what men may say or do to her for being in public as a unclean woman. . And the scriptures says that she worked her way through the crowd so she could get close enough to Jesus to touch the hem of his garment. And when she touch the hem of his garment, the scriptures says she was immediately made whole from the issue of blood that had plagued her for 12 long years. When she touch the hem of his garment, Jesus stopped walking and asked, “Who touched me?” Now when Jesus asked this question, the disciples that we walking with him said, Lord, there is a whole lot of people crowding and pressing upon you. So why are you asking, “Who touch you?”

But Jesus said “Someone did touch me for the healing virtue had went out of my body.” And when the woman saw that she could not hide any longer in the midst of the crowd, she came forth testifying to Jesus that it was her that touched him because she had been sick for 12 long years, and she said if I could just touch the hem of his garment, I shall be made whole. And Jesus, upon hearing this woman’s testimony, he said unto her,“ Daughter, thy faith hath made the whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” Now what we can learn from this passage of scripture is this: when you find yourself in a hopeless situation, just know you can go to Jesus anytime. It does not matter what day or the hour it is , you can go to Jesus to help you out of your hopeless situation. It doesn’t matter what type of hopeless situation you may be in, whether, it be sickness, financial difficulties, family problems, marriage problems, you can go to Jesus for your situation. And just like this woman had to press her way through to get Jesus, don’t let nothing stop you from getting to Jesus. Don’t let any man, any woman, any boy , any girl, and anything keep you from getting to Jesus.
