What is your motive for being a Christian or a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ? Are you coming to Jesus for health, money or anything else? This month God told me to speak to you to have the right motivation of a believer.

Apostle Paul’s motives.

In 2 Corinthians Chapter 5, he gives the three motives for his ministry.

1. Reward.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 9So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Paul says we please God in our life and labor for him in order to be rewarded. Christ’s judgment is coming and He will evaluate our work and that motivates us. In Acts Chapter 1 when Jesus wanted to motivate the disciples to go out and preach, when He said, “you are my witnesses,” the angels said, “this same Jesus who is taken up from you shall so come in like manner as you’ve seen Him go.” That’s motive. Jesus is coming and He’s coming to reward those who’ve faithfully served Him. This motivated Paul.

2. God’s love.

Paul says, “When I see what Jesus has done for me, it motivates me to minister for Him.”

John 3:16 God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Corinthians 5:14 For Christ’s love compels us.

Acts 1:3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them…

KJV …after his passion

When Paul saw the selfless love and sacrifice of Christ, he was motivated to serve Jesus Christ. I am willing to suffer for Christ. I am willing to partake in His suffering.

3. The completion of Christ’s work.

Jesus said on the cross after taking the sins of mankind, “It is finished.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! The knowledge that when he preached the gospel, people were transformed motivated him.

Be motivated to share the gospel to the unreached. Be motivated to partake in the gospel.

Friends, what is your motivated to be a child of God? Let’s be motivated to please God so that we may be rewarded, motivated by the love of God and suffer for him, and motivated by the transformed of lives when we live and share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
