Summary: Paul concludes Romans 1-8 by talking about walking in the Spirit and the certainty of our hope in Christ.
WALKING FORWARD: Living by the Holy Spirit is effective.
- Romans 8:1-13.
a. No condemnation but how do I live it out?
- Romans 8:1.
b. Life in the Holy Spirit sets me free.
- Romans 8:2-4.
c. This is a choice of what’s in our minds.
- Romans 8:5-8.
d. This is not optional.
- Romans 8:12-14.
IN THE FAMILY: We pursue all this as His children.
- Romans 8:15-17.
a. We call Him Father.
- Romans 8:15.
b. The Spirit gives us that assurance too.
- Romans 8:16.
c. We are part of His kingdom.
- Romans 8:17.
GLOBAL IMPACT: This is about more than us – it’s about the redemption of creation.
- Romans 8:18-21.
a. Yes, there’s a lot of suffering now but there is a lot of glory to come.
- Romans 8:18.
b. The creation will also be freed from the curse.
- Romans 8:19-21.
OUR PRESENT STRUGGLE: For now, though, the Holy Spirit helps us in our struggles.
- Romans 8:22-27.
a. The creation is groaning.
- Romans 8:22.
b. We do too.
- Romans 8:23-25.
c. The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.
- Romans 8:26-27.
WHERE ALL THIS LEADS: We win.
- Romans 8:28-39.
a. God’s plan is effective.
- Romans 8:28-30.
b. We are conquerors through God.
- Romans 8:31-39.
