What Happens When We Worship Series

Key Text: Isaiah 6:1-8

Four things happened to Isaiah as he encountered God in worship. The same four things will happen to us when we experience God in worship.

1. When we worship we will become aware of God’s PRESENCE (v. 1-4).

A. Isaiah sensed the humble presence of God. (God was close to him, not far away - Heb. 4:16)

B. Isaiah sensed the high presence of God. (God was exalted as king - Ps. 30:1; 34:3)

C. Isaiah sensed the holy presence of God. (The seraphs declared the holiness of God - Ps. 99:5)

D. Isaiah sensed the heavy presence of God. (The train of his robe filled the temple: God was "all over")

2. When we worship we will see our PROBLEM (v. 5).

Isaiah saw his problem: Sin

3. When we worship we will receive a PARDON (v. 6-7)

Isaiah experienced forgiveness of his problem in worship.

1 John 1:9

4. When we worship we will offer God our PERFORMANCE (v. 8).

Isaiah’s worship empowered him to offer himself to God.
