Summary: For so many, the true message of Christmas has been lost in the commercialism and revelry that accompanies this season of the year. The people of God need to share with other what Christmas really tells us.
WHAT CHRISTMAS TELLS US
“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
The true message of Christmas has been lost in the commercialism and revelry that accompanies it today, The people of God need to share with others what Christmas really tells us.
I. It tells us that man has a desperate need.
“for he will save is people from their sins.”
1. The tragic fact of sin: “For all have sinned and come sort of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
2. The tragic consequence of sin: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
II. It tells us that God loved sinful man with a love beyond measure.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son…” John 3:16a
“God demonstrates is own love toward us in that, while we are still sinners, Christ died us.” Romans 5:8
III. It tells us that, through Christ, we are redeemed, forgiven and elevated to a higher position than that which existed before the fall.
“In him we have redeemed trough His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7
Notice…Adam, created in the image and likeness of God, “became a living soul” at the moment of creation. Adam was the highest of God’s creation…but he was never called, or ever referred to as a "son of God".
Believers are emphatically called “children of God.” “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if children then heirs— heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.” Romans 8:16-17
IV. It tells us that the gift of eternal life is freely offered to all men.
“…that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16b
“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. And whosoever desires, let him take the water of life freely,” Revelation 22:17
“And I give unto them eternal life, and that they shall never perish.” John 10:28
