Summary: Week 22 in a Wednesday evening study throught the book of Revelation

Verse 6

 This speaks for itself. The torment will be so great that all who have reject Jesus will desire death.

Verse 7-10

 People for years have tried to discern what these locusts will look like.

 Some say this describes the helicopter.

“Crowns of gold”

 This is the symbol of ultimate defeat.

 Again ultimate defeat for those that have rejected Jesus as Lord.

“Faces of men”

 This may refer to these demonic creatures as rational, intelligent beings.

“Hair like woman’s hair”

 When you think of a woman’s long hair you think of her seductive ways.

“Their teeth were like lion’s teeth”

 Have you ever seen pictures of someone bitten by a lion?

 The lion has great power and can destroy flesh and bones.

“Breastplates of iron”

 Breastplates were designed to protect the vital organs and sustain the life of the warrior.

 This tells us for 5 months these creatures are invulnerable.

Verse 11

 Although locusts normally have no king, these demonic creatures do. His name in Hebrew means destruction and in Greek means destroyer.

 There is a hierarchy of power among the demons, just as among the holy angels.

 Apparently the angel of the bottomless pit is one of Satan’s most trusted leaders, who will lead this attack on the people during the tribulation period.

Verse 12

 The first of the woe trumpet judgments is over and two more, even worse are on there way.

 As I read this book of Revelation, this book of prophesy and coming wrath, I am amazed at God’s wonderful act of mercy.

 Why has God given us this fortelling of things to come?

 To warn us.

 That’s mercy.
