We Love The Easy. The Path Of Least Resistance?
Contributed by Wade Martin Hughes, Sr on Sep 30, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: Have we developed an attitude of looking for games, entertainment and the easy? The path of least resistance can hide many dangers. Life is not who has the biggest, best toys. Life is not a game.
WE LOVE EASY? THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)
Is it easier to lose your temper than stay calm? Is it easier to communicate with people on the computer than it is to communicate with your family? Is it easier to watch TV or FaceBook than read your Bible? We are habitual beings making choices based on easy. Humanity gravitates looking for the easiest way possible. The human mind is hardwired to demand easy things and resist change. LIFE IS NOT A JOKE!
*JOKE: to make light of, to make laughter, humerous.
*EASY: not hard to do, not difficult, free from pain, no trouble, to be free from worry, no hurry, leisure, not steep, to achieve with little to no effort,
*EASYGOING: care free, not faithful, take life easy, not serious, light hearted, no concern.
*GAME: fun, gest, play, little challenge, amusement,
*ENTERTAINMENT: the action of enjoyment or amusement, to provide food and drink, performance, diversion.
TEXT:
Galatians 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden. 6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
OUR BRAINS ARE OFTEN HARDWIRED TO LOVE TO DO NOTHING. HUMAN BEINGS OFTEN DEMAND THE PATH OF LITTLE TO NO EFFORT. THE PATH OF THERE IS A TRUE SCIENTIC CONCEPT: WATER ALWAYS FOLLOWS THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE. WATER WILL SEEK THE EASIEST ROUTE.
Water gains energy by moving to lower elevations. When water faces a blockage, it will flow around by another route that requires less energy. The path of least resistance is a simple law of physics that will use the least the least effort or energy possible.
DO WE MAKE THE CHOICE OF EASY, FAST AND NO EFFORT? SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING, WE TRY WILL GIVE UP --- WE TEND TO AVOID CHALLENGES AND CONFLICT. ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP RATHER THAN EXERT EFFORT. WE EMBRACE EASE MORE THAN EFFORT AND STRUGGLES. LET US AVOID CHALLENGES.
Our whole society and church worlds tend to avoid hard issues. We search for paths of surrender where little or nothing is required. It is very easy to give up and quit…
THERE IS A TENDANCY FOR PEOPLE TO TAKE SPIRITUAL LIFE AS NOT SERIOUS. THIS LACK OF PRIORITIES AND INVEST LITTLE TO NO EFFORT TO IMPROVE. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE ISSUE.
Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
SEEMS PEOPLE DO NOT COUNT THE BOOER-RANG EFFECT OF LIVING THE EASY WAY?
Genesis 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
I HAVE OFTEN FOUND ONE TRUTH IS NOT TRUE. WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING…
MY 46 YEAR MINISTRY EXPERIENCE IS THAT WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH --- PEOPLE QUIT.
1 Corinthians 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
CONSIDER THE GAMES PEOPLE PLAY:
GAMES: HIDE AND SEEK: The first game in the Bible?
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Cain hid Abel’s body? Achan hid the garments and gold? Moses had a line up to expose the hidden sin.
GAMES: LET’S MAKE A DEAL? TRADE UNLESS FOR SOMETHING? SIMON WANTS TO BUY A SPIRITUAL DEAL? RICH YOUNG MAN?
