WE KNOW... I KNOW...

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

TEXT:

2 Tim. 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU KNOW?

The first thing you know ol’ Jed’s a millionaire, kin folk say Jed move away from there... Said California is the place you ought to be... so they loaded up the truck and moved To Beverly, Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars, ...

I. WE KNOW... HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW...

DO WE KNOW WHAT WE KNOW? DO WE EVER FORGET WHAT WE KNOW?

A. KNOW:

Have in mind, have learned, to be able to recall,

To be acquainted, to be friendly,

To have personal experience,

KJV

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

LB

Romans 8:28 And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.

MS

Romans 8:28 That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

II WE KNOW GOD HAS A PLAN... THERE IS A RIGHT WAY... THERE IS A WAY THAT

SEEMS RIGHT...

A. Not all that seems right is right... we must KNOW...

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

B. Many seek the easy road.

Like water they search for the path of least resistance...

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

III. THERE ARE TWO WAYS WE KNOW THAT WE ARE OF GOD AND WE ARE IN GOD...

A. The commandments are much more than ten suggestions...

B. The commandments will reveal IF WE ARE measuring up to God’s standard...

1 John 2:3 Here’s how we can be sure that we know God in the right way: Keep his commandments.

C. We KNOW

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

IV. WE KNOW THAT ALL HAVE SINNED, THERE ARE NO PERFECT PEOPLE...

A. WE KNOW THE FIRST STONE LAW... the perfect person can cast the first stone...

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

B. God does not search for perfect people, BUT FORGIVEN...

C. Sin is doubt, fear, rebellion and unbelief...

D. TO KNOW TO DO GOOD AND DO IT NOT IS A SIN...

V. WE MUST KNOW SIN HAS A TERRIBLE PAY DAY... SIN KILLS....

A. Sin is a trap...

Sin takes you farther than you plan on going...

Sin keeps you longer than you planned on staying...

Sin cost you more than you planned on paying.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through

Jesus Christ our Lord.

B. KNOW THAT SIN SEPARATES...

MAN FROM GOD...

MAN FROM MAN

VI. DO WE KNOW THAT GOD SO LOVED US... WE ARE THE WHOSOEVER...

THAT GOD LOVES...

A. YOU CAN’T FIND A PERSON GOD DOES NOT LOVE...

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

B. God’s love is expressed as "SO LOVED!"

C. God hates sin, but God loves sinners...

D. REAL LOVE GIVES...

VII. WE KNOW THAT JESUS DIED FOR US... AND WE MUST ACCEPT JESUS

LIVED AND DIED AND AROSE FOR US...

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

[7] For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

[8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

VIII. JESUS IS ALIVE AND WELL, BELIEVE ... RECEIVED ... AND FAITH ---

WE KNOW THAT IN FAITH JESUS SAVES...

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

[31] And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

IX. WE CAN KNOW AND BE ASSURED THAT JESUS HAS CALLED US HIS FRIEND...

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
