1. open hand indicates power, means, direction

1. son, grandson - we are included here

It's because the LORD JESUS is our wall of protection and always with us to save and deliver us from our enemies. He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Jeremiah 15:20-21 (Amplified Bible)

15:20 And I will make you to this people a fortified, bronze wall; they will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you to save and deliver you, says the Lord.

15:21 And I will deliver you out of the hands of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the palms of the terrible and ruthless tyrants.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (Amplified Bible)

31:6 Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5 (Amplified Bible)

13:5 Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

How do we grow as children of GOD? The answer is "from glory to glory" That is literally, from praise to praise. We grow by praising and glorifying our GOD everyday, growth is not overnight, we have to do our work, we have to sweat in praising GOD, it takes human effort to praise and glorify GOD. Praises and Glories to the LORD our GOD everyday and every moment we can gives us growth. It is different from what the world describes as growth.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (Amplified Bible)

3:18 And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
