Walls To Come Down
Contributed by Duane Boehm on Jun 2, 2001 (message contributor)
Summary: Joshua 6. Children of Isreal march around the city, walls come down. We have walls in our life that must come down too.
Walls come Down
Joshua 6
Intro.
In Joshua 6 we read of the children of
Israel on route to the Promised Land.
Jericho stands in the way, but Joshua
Following the commands that was given
To him by the captain of the Lord finds
That this was no problem.
Let’s stop there for a moment, have
We listened to the captain. If God told
Us this kind of orders would we follow?
Jericho felt safe in their city with walls and
Joshua told march 1 time for 6 days and 7
Times on the 7th. This is sort of strange,
But when you Follow God and are willing to
Do the ridiculous, God will Do the miraculous.
Lets look at walls that we got to take
Down in our Life.
We read of a few things that I want to
Comment on first—
The ark of the Lord represents Christ.
The walls of Jericho were walls of
Safety for them, and yet stood in the
Way of the children of Israel, in this
Format, Jericho represents the world to us,
For This message.
WALLS TO COME DOWN
I) WALLS OF PRIDE
God hates pride.
No way around it, pride is our enemy.
a) Lucifer fell as a result of pride
Isa. 14:12-14
I will ascend into heaven
I will exalt my throne above God’s
I will sit upon the mount
I will above the heights
I will be like the most High
b) pride is at top of God’s hate list
Prov.6:16-19
c) God only promised to exalt the meek
Matt. 5:5
I peter 5:6
II) WALLS OF DISCONTENTION
A) strife
B) hatred
C) criticism
All the above will fester and spread like infection
And destroy the ministry of the church
People get hurt feelings about this or that
When will we learn this is a trick of Satan?
There was no room in the inn, what about your heart?
Matt.5:23
Matt.7:1
Just to mention a few verses
III) WALLS OF LACK OF FAITH
Heb.11:1and 6
Forsaking
All
I
Trust
Him
That what faith is, no plan B or C
We are not to know what is next
We don’t need to know what is next
All I need to know is who is leading
II Tim.1:12
IV) WALLS OF DISOBEDIENCE
Example
Jonah
King Saul ISam.15
A) What did Jesus say?
Luke 6:46
John 14:15
What will it take for us to say yes to God?
b) In the following ways
Salvation
His will
His word
According to the above verses, do we really love Him?
Never put a ? where God put a .
Conclusion:
As you look at Joshua 6:26
They were told not to rebuild the walls
Are you going rebuild the walls?
God clearly told them the result if they
Do, and we must knock them down and
not rebuild either.
If we are serious about our commitment to
Christ ,they must stay down.
