Walking Across Impossibilities Part One

Through Faith, Your Impossible Situation Can Become Possible

Exodus 1: 11-21; 2:1-9).

We are going to look at Moses, God’s chosen deliverer, and how through God, he was able to lead the children of Israel out of bondage. They had been in bondage in Egypt under cruel taskmasters. They had been there for a long time, and things did not seem to be getting better. In fact, they were growing worse. For a better understanding, go to Exodus 1:11-14:

“Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to

afflict them with their burdens. And they built

for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

But the more they afflicted them, the more they

multiplied and grew.

And they were grieved because of the

children of Israel.

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel

to serve with rigour:

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage,

in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service

in the field: all their service, wherein they made

them serve, was with rigour.

Truly, this was an impossible situation, wasn’t it? Yet, things did not get better, for we learn that: “And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live” (Exodus 1:15,16).

Certainly, this can be categorized as a hopeless situation, can’t it? There seems to be no way out, no escape route. (1) The children of Israel were forced to perform heavy labor, perhaps working way into the night, and into the wee hours of the morning. And, worse than that, the taskmasters were cruel, and apparently heartless. (2) And, if that wasn’t enough, the midwives had been ordered to literally kill all Hebrew boys!

And, you thought you had a problem! You thought your situation was bad. You thought you had an impossible situation. Listen: IT is nothing compared to this situation! How can they walk across these impossibilities? Allow me to say this,“ When you are faced with an impossible situation... when the bills are stacking up, and there is not enough money in the bank to cover it.... when the mortgage is due, and you don’t have the money.... Listen: Look to Jesus.. He has already provided a way for you to walk across those impossible situations! You must have faith, be obedient and committed to Him. In faith....Shout the victory! In faith.... begin speaking possibilities...instead of dwelling on the impossibilities!

Listen: I can remember a time when I didn’t know if I would be able to feed and clothe my family, or if my rent would be paid. You know what I did? I prayed, fasted, and believed God for the victory. I began speaking as though all my bills were paid....I began speaking as though my wallet was full, and running over! I began speaking as though my rent was paid. Listen: I got bold... and began speaking about the house that my family and I wanted. I didn’t think small but began talking about a huge house with a garage, and three floors! You know something? God worked everything out! I received an increase on my job, and was not only able to support my family but had enough money for luxuries! Did I get the house? Not immediately. Years later we were blessed with a wonderful home. Listen: Through faith in God, You can walk across impossibilities!

Back to the text.... let‘s see what happened in this impossible situation: ....

“But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt

commanded them, but saved the men children alive” (Exodus 1: 17).

Can you see how God works? He worked through the midwives, didn’t He? The midwives had faith in God, and did not carry out the Egyptian king’s orders. Instead, they.. “saved the men children alive.”

Listen: Because the midwives had faith in God, and were obedient, He rewarded them greatly. Watch this: “Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses” (Exodus 1:20-21).

If you have faith, you can walk across all impossibilities! Listen: Don’t look at your circumstances... keep your eyes on JESUS! Let’s go to the New Testament, and see what the Bible says about impossibilities.

Matt. 19:26:

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men

this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible,
